Why McMaster University

A “city within a city,” the McMaster community offers a safe campus where diverse, social, cultural and academic values are allowed to develop and prosper.

Located on the southwest shore of Lake Ontario, Hamilton is the ninth-largest city in Canada and a thriving urban centre. Its many attractions include a vibrant arts scene, museums, shopping, sports and outdoor recreation.

One of the most picturesque areas of Ontario, Hamilton is home to over 7,000 acres of recreational conservation areas and 65 identified waterfalls. McMaster is made up of over 300 acres of beautiful, green campus space. A medium-sized campus with a pedestrian-friendly core, on-campus residences for over 3,700 students and affordable off-campus housing provides easy accessibility to all students. Residence admission is guaranteed for all international and out-of-province students providing they meet University admission criteria.

Our unique Health Solutions Design Courses allow students to solve unmet healthcare needs in a hands-on environment. In each level of study, students team-up to utilize state-of-the art technology and equipment to design solutions for real clients

All students who successfully complete the first-year of the program will have a space in one of the two degree options:

• Bachelor of Engineering and Biomedical Engineering (B.Eng.BME) degree

• Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences (B.H.Sc.) degree in Health, Engineering Sciences and Entrepreneurship (HESE)

Admission is by selection. OUAC APPLICATION AND MANDATORY SUPPLEMENTARY APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY (please check ibiomed.mcmaster.ca for specific dates.)

*Minimum average required for consideration.

Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences Program

FAST FACTS! What is iBioMed?This new program is the first in Canada to offer a truly interdisciplinary five-year biomedical program that integrates Engineering with Health Sciences.

It is also the only Health Sciences program in Health, Engineering Sciences and Entrepreneurship.

After a common first-year, students will then apply to enter the Bachelor of Engineering and Biomedical Engineering degree program or the Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences in Health, Engineering Science and Entrepreneurship degree program.

To promote collaboration throughout the five-year program, students complete a series of project-based design courses intended to develop their working knowledge of contemporary issues related to society, ethics and professionalism while developing biomedical engineering solutions to real-world healthcare problems.

Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences

(iBioMed)

iBioMed is the first program of its kind in Canada to offer a five-year biomedical program that integrates Engineering and Health Sciences.

iBioMed students have landed co-op placements with Google, McMaster University, The City of Hamilton and Slack. Co-op placements are flexible and can be taken at any time.

Students solve real-world healthcare problems with actual clients from the community.

From the iBioMed Society to our Ambassador Program, there are countless ways students can get involved on campus!
