FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

First Reading: Isaiah 55:10-11 Just as the rain and snow water the earth and make it fruitful, so does the word of God bring forth good seed.

Second Reading: Romans 8:18-23 Reminding all that the trials and sufferings of this life are “as nothing,” Paul says that the glory we shall receive will overshadow all things.

Gospel: Matthew 13:1-23 Jesus tells the parable of the sower and the seed. The seed that landed on the footpath, on rocky ground, or among thorns withered and died; the seed that fell on good ground -- “the man who hears the message and takes it in” ... “bears a yield of a hundred-fold.”

Pastoral Council looking for new members as we look to the future.

Our Pastoral Council is “a consultative body advising the pastor” as well as “a voice of the parishioners to the pastor” (From the Pastoral Council Constitution). The Council year ends in June, so we are in need of two or three new members to replace those whose terms are ending. The PC meets eight times a year and there are several committees within the council, which some members serve on. We believe the Council is an important vehicle in our parish and ask you to consider seeking membership.

Please contact: Tom Faranda, [email protected] or cell 924-2061.

Grocery Cards for Sale Shoprite and Foodtown gift cards will not be sold at Mass but are still available for purchase from the Parish Office.

To order, please contact Debra Rago: (914) 271-4797 x 30 [email protected]

Religious Education Update Like most parishes we are struggling to make plans for the fall. The likelihood of onsite instruction each Sunday is not high. We may have to stagger classes or as suggested by the Archdiocese do a Family based Parish Religious Education approach. We will be in touch as soon as we get more information. In the meantime, please return the registration form. Thank you!

Due to popular demand, we have decided to keep our old number which is 271-4254. You may reach us there or email [email protected]

The new carillon for the bells at the Chapel is on its

way. The product has been shipped and we are

anxiously awaiting the arrival and installation. We

are still looking for donations to help with the

expense. Anything you can give is greatly

appreciated.

The Care for Creation Ministry will be hosting a Sustainable Sunday Speaker Series event on Sunday July 12 at 3 pm – 4pm.

We will have 2 speakers from Drawdown NYC, Elly Lessin and Rob Schmitz, who will explain the Drawdown concepts to us.

“Drawdown” is the point in the future when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline, thereby stopping catastrophic climate change.

Please be part of the online Zoom presentation by logging onto https://fordham.zoom.us/j/99964223882 at 3pm.

Never been on Zoom? Ask a friend or a kid to help!

Ask them to stay and watch with you!

HNM Cookbook Our church will be publishing a cookbook featuring the best recipes from not only our parish, but also our Croton neighbors (and hopefully a few recipes from local restaurants too!). We would love to include some of your favorite recipes particularly ones that are tried and true and easy to make. The due-date for submission is Saturday, August 1st. Your name will be printed with each of your recipes, and each cookbook will be professionally typeset, printed and bound. All profits will go directly to support our Holy Name of Mary Community.

The Recipe Submission Form can be found on our website at: www.holynameofmary.org/news/hnm-cookbook If you were having trouble filling out the form previously, it has been updated. Even if you have no recipes to share, the submission form is also a cookbook pre-order form.

We believe these cookbooks will showcase the best recipes from our town, and they will be a great gift! If you know you will order cookbooks, pre-ordering them will save you a few dollars, and will give us a better estimate on how many cookbooks to print.

Thank you in advance for your participation!

Hello and welcome back home to Holy Name of Mary for the celebration of Holy Mass

It’s wonderful to see you all again. Just a few reminders of what is expected and what will occur.

Please make sure that you, your family and children wear your face mask throughout the

entire Mass.

Please pay attention to those around you and keep the appropriate safe distance. Do not hug,

embrace or shake hands with friends and others.

There will be no procession at the start or the end of the Mass. The priest will enter and exit

from the sacristy.

There will be no physical exchange of the Sign of Peace.

Communion will be distributed only under one species. It will be distributed at the end of

Mass.

On your way to receive the Eucharist please keep safe distance. You will remove the mask and

also your gloves as you approach the Eucharist and then you may wear the masks and exit

the church. When you reach your car you may continue with your prayer of thanksgiving.

Leave the Church from the side exits ONLY after you receive Holy Communion.

If during Mass it is necessary to use the restroom, please follow the signs and adhere to the

rules of hygiene and sanitation.

Ushers will not distribute any paper magazines, newspapers or bulletins. Your Flocknote will

keep you updated.

Let there be no gathering after Mass to meet and greet.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding as we take these regrettable but

necessary steps which will in turn allow us to resume the celebration of the Mass and other

sacraments together.
