MISSION St. Teresa’s Academy, a Catholic, independent, college- preparatory high school, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, is commied to the educaon of young women. COMMUNITY The Kansas City metropolitan area has a populaon of over two million people. It is composed of Kansas City, Missouri, and seven counes in both Missouri and Kansas. ENROLLMENT 600, Grades 9-12, approximately 14% minority students. 70% reside in MO and 30% in KS. 85% are Catholic. Class of 2017 – 152 young women Class of 2018 – 128 young women FACULTY & ADMINISTRATION More than 55 men and women, with more than 90% having earned advanced degrees. Student-faculty rao is 12:1. ACCREDITATION North Central Commission on Accreditaon and School Improvement, AdvancED. MEMBERSHIPS Naonal Catholic Educaon Associaon, Naonal Associaon of Secondary School Principals, Associaon for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Naonal Associaon for College Admission Counseling. Each department holds memberships in state and naonal associaons. POINTS OF PRIDE STA has two semesters with a flexible schedule that promotes student responsibility for scheduling of unstructured me. Our graduates enter college with considerable experience in decision making and self-direcon in me management. All students parcipate in a one-to-one laptop program with a commitment to technology and Going Global for the 21st Century. ETHICAL GUIDELINES St. Teresa’s Academy is a member of the Naonal Associaon for College Admission Counseling and fully endorses the Statement of Principles of Good Pracce as adopted by NACAC. All informaon is being sent to the admission office/scholarship coordinator on the condion that it is not released to any other party without the consent of the student or her parents. Faculty and counselor statements are not shared with students or parents. AP/DUAL/HONORS/ONLINE COURSES (WEIGHTED COURSES) Advanced Placement: Biology, Calculus AB & BC, English Language (11), English Literature (12), Music Theory, Psychology, US Government (12), US History (11), World History (10). New in 2016-17: Chemistry, Environmental Science. Dual Enrollment: European History I & II, Stascs & Probability (University of Missouri-Kansas City); French III & IV, Lan III & IV, Pre-Calculus, Spanish III & IV (Rockhurst University). Students may take addional world language courses on the campus of Rockhurst University. Computer Programming II (Northwest Missouri State University). St. Teresa’s is in partnership with the Online School for Girls, a fully accredited online learning community.
