From property dialogs to property pane – what you need to know

Property pane basics

Only one property pane for all objects Opens with double-click Updates with single-click (selection) -> no more “GET”

When several objects selected, displays common properties When selection contains different values for a given

property, text “Varies” is shown and the values are available in the dropdown.

DirectX Graphics

DirectX improves the rendering quality and adds a subtle shading effect to Tekla Structures.

DirectX graphics performance is better on the recommended Geforce GTX graphics cards than with graphics cards that have a less performance or no GPU.

DX Graphics benefits over OpenGL The 3D visualization is clearer and more defined when with DirectX rendering. Better visualization of distance

Antialiasing: Image quality is by default now much better, with less flickering.Automatichatching for overlapping surfaces on same plane

DX Graphics Advanced optionsIn addition advanced options to control shadows and antialiasing added. XS_SHOW_SHADOW_FOR_PERSPECTIVE on by default.

Controls whether shadows are shown in DX views when perspective mode is on. XS_SHOW_SHADOW_FOR_ORTHO off by default.

Controls, whether antialiasing is used in DX views or not. Antialiasing makes the edge lines smoother, but also less precise. XS_USE_ANTI_ALIASING_IN_DX off by default.

Controls, whether hatching is shown in DX views for overlapping surfaces or not. XS_HATCH_OVERLAPPING_FACES_IN_DX on by default.

Controls, whether performance statistics are shown on DX views or not. Performance statistics: XS_SHOW_STATISTICS_IN_DX off by default.

Point Cloud VisualizationAbility to import post processed scanned information to Tekla Structures where it

can be used to make decisions about the setting out of the structural 3d model.

Benefits of the solution

▪ Point clouds importing and processing

▪ when point clouds are being attached they run as a separate process in Tekla Structures

▪ Therefore they do not freeze any TS usage and users can see the attachment progress

Filtering improvements

Drawings

Drawing content manager

Quick and easy way to review, add and locate drawing content. Select relevant content for checking and editing purposes,

and target actions on single or multiple model objects or marks simultaneously

Modify, remove or add without drawing properties set-up, model object marks, including associative notes

Check how many marks model objects have in one view or in the entire drawing

Improved automatic mark placement example

Manual mark placement improvements

New marks alignment commands for automatically unresolved cases Select marks and run Auto-arrange marks to avoid crossing leader lines.

Select marks and run Auto-align marks in close proximity to stack them and place them evenly.

Snapping and selection

Snap to circle center in drawings XS_ADD_SNAPPING_SYMBOL_TO_CIRCLES to TRUE will show center point snap symbols for example in circular part cuts in drawings. GA drawings are not supporting this, as it may cause a performance hit.

Reference objects on drawings performance Loading of reference objects during opening and creating of a drawing is

handled differently now to make drawings opening faster. Earlier users needed to wait for reference objects loading, even though their drawing would not contain any reference objects.

Advanced Grid Labels

New option: Align to lines

When you select Yes, the labels of vertical and inclined grid lines are rotated to align with the grid lines.

Skewed lines are working correctly now as well.

Template Editor 3.6 Search for attribute names and

descriptions in the attributes list. – Type any part of the word not starting from

the beginning. Search happens on the fly.– Attribute descriptions included in search

with translations.

You would still need to expand collapsed attribute groups to see, if there are searchresults under them.

Template Editor 3.6 When output value field does not fit into a table field *** will indicate that value

is cut. For example, when a template has value field length limited to 10 chars and the

output value is 11 chars or more, you will get the indication visible in the end of the output field.

Earlier it was hard to notice if part of the property was hidden.
