I was called from the office to meet with a resident who saw

the person who is doing malicious mischief by shutting off

residents’ electric power and then knocking on doors to see

if anyone is home. If this happens, immediately turn on all

your outside lighting, keeping your doors shut, so this

person stops the attempted break-in.

While speaking to this resident, I was told the police had been there at 12 AM

midnight the night before because someone is also agitating their dogs, causing a

ruckus. I checked on their nearest neighbor’s home that has been vacant for many

years, discovering the doors were unlocked. Next, I checked with a third neighbor

who has had previous problems but they had not had any the night before.

The next day, I learned that two, additional residents have had someone ringing

their doorbell, knocking on front and back doors and when there is no response, the

possible intruder asks, “is everyone ok?” Perhaps, he thinks you might think it

might be a neighbor and open the door??? By my investigation, I now know that

there was a 6th home involved, and it had pry marks on the door.

To summarize, in 2-½ hours, one person attempted break-in’s upon 6 homes. I do not

think it was the same person who has been shutting off electric power and then

knocking on doors. If you have not put a padlock on your electrical pedestal, I

strongly urge that you do it as soon as possible. By doing this, you are stopping

someone from getting to your circuit breakers that shut-off power to your home.

Much of the above, I learned through the grapevine, so I am very disappointed that when these things happen that you do not call me (Art Welch-602-569-0934) or

your Block Watch Capt. Certainly, call the Police and the next call must be to us! It

is very hard to help you during your time of need when we should be telling the

Police about previous incidents, when we don’t know what’s going on.

If you awaken in the night, please look out your windows and into your street or

neighbor’s yards. If you see someone lurking/walking about, call the police

immediately! I know of no residents who take walks during the middle of the night.

Call me! As a community, we can catch these creeps!

I also highly recommend that everyone in the community leave on a front and back

porch light all night long. Brightly lit homes up and down the street deter burglars

and vandals! Thank you!

With Easter approaching, I thought many of you would be

interested in Bill O’Reilly’s, “Killing Jesus.” The entire “Killing”

Series is outstanding. From Killing Patton to Lincoln, JFK and

Jesus are based on historical facts leading up the death of the

individual. “Killing Jesus” was different than any book I’ve read

about him because it is far more understandable explaining the

facts leading up to Jesus’ birth through his death. For the first time,

I understood the underlying politics, schemes and interplay of the

generals, soldiers, priests, rabbis and emperor in Rome and

Jerusalem during this time period.

You won’t put it down and can never forget what you learn. Some

may already have this knowledge but there are fascinating

revelations researched by biblical archeologists that are startling.

If anyone has ANY of the O’Reilly Series, please share any and all

copies with our Library. We thank you in advance!

EASTER DINNER Teri Strayer

309-363-9160

We will be having our annual Easter Dinner again this year. We

want to make this as nice for all of the residents as possible. So, we are asking for your help once again.

We will be having a social hour from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and Dinner will start serving at 2:00 pm.

We will furnish plates, napkins, utensils, coffee and lemonade. If you want something stronger feel free to bring it. We ask that you bring a snack to share for the social hour and any hard beverage of

your choice. This is NOT A POTLUCK; it is a traditional holiday

dinner. If you don't want to cook we will accept monetary donations and my committee and I will cook for you. Please let us

know in advance.

We definitely are in need hams. We have 2 turkeys already, so ham needs to be on the menu. I will be shopping for food on Wednesday prior to Easter. We ask that all hot dishes be brought

hot. We do not have stove space to cook on the day of the dinner. If possible please bring your hot dishes in a crock pot or some kind of warmer.

All residents and their families and guests are invited, but it would be a great help if we knew how many people were coming. We

would just like to have an idea of how many of you are planning to attend so that we can ensure there is plenty of food. There is a

signup sheet on the bulletin board across from the kitchen. I have an excellent decorating committee and set up committee,

but as always, we need help with the tear down and clean up and as in the past, if you or someone you know needs a meal delivered you can call the office or Teri Strayer 1 -309-363-9160. If you need a

ride to the clubhouse let us know, we will pick you up.

One more thing, we are asking you to bring a "white elephant" type

gift for a drawing. Gag gifts, whatever. We are asking that they be wrapped and I would be happy to do that for you. Any questions

give me a call and let's make this a really fun day for all. After the dinner, please feel free to stay and play cards, dominoes or just visit with you friends. This is probably the last social event

before the snow birds fly away.

POTLUCK DINNER – Deborah Parnham & Lori Garver

623-465-0064 This month’s Potluck Dinner will have a taste of the Blarney Stone. St. Patrick’s Day is

this month’s Potluck Dinner theme and will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015.

PUT ON YOUR BEST IRISH, DON'T FORGET YOUR GREEN, AND COME ON OVER TO THE CLUBHOUSE FOR OUR ST. PATTI'S DAY THEMED POTLUCK!!!

Don't forget your place setting AND REMEMBER that we are asking you all to bring a

dish that will serve 8-10 people. We are truly hoping that by increasing the size of the dishes we bring, and remembering to be aware of all those who are there to share the

meal by not overloading our plates, we are hoping to not run out of food. Perhaps we should all take a look at the size of our potluck plates. Remember, if you go through the

line one time, if there is anything left after everybody has been through the line for the

first time, you are welcome to go back for seconds! Another thing we want to remind everybody of; PLEASE bring a bag to be able to place your dirty dishes in once you are

finished with your dinner. This will cut down on the congestion in the kitchen while our helpers are cleaning up and making sure that everything is taken care of. There is a

good chance that we will be calling table numbers to start through the food line. Those

who have helped us set up, serve, and clean up, will go first, followed by anybody who is handicapped and requires a little more time or assistance to get through the line. After

that, the tables will be called by number.

We are very much looking forward to Saturday night and can't wait to see you all

there! WE CAN ALL BE A LITTLE BIT IRISH FOR A NIGHT!!!!

PALM LAKES VILLAGE APPRECIATION DAY

Pam Pint

952-239-2085

WE DID IT AGAIN…The PLV Appreciation Day we held on 3 -15-2015 was a huge success. We had over 122 people sign in (resident and guests) and we had 26 people representing 15 of our advertis-

ers. Village Inn, one of our dining advertisers, brought in pie sam-ples. The Hammered Hog, voted the Best of Our Valley Barbeque

in 2014 and 2015, served pulled pork and chicken, baked beans and coleslaw. Others had lots of information and “freebies” at their tables to share. Palm Lakes Village provided hot dogs, popcorn,

cookies, cold drinks and coffee. We had wonderful prizes The “PLV Café” was filled throughout the event. A list of prizes, contributors

and winners will be posted on the website and in the book. I would

like to thank the committee that worked so hard to make this a success. The committee members are: Pam Pint and Billie Albright, co-chairs, Ruth Dibley, Sue Wilson and Gail Flint. Also thanks to

Stan Pint, Bert Dibley, Bob & Betty Chard, Larry Albright, Bunny & Jerry Scott, Roger & Sandy Pinkoski, Daryl Struiksma and all

that helped to set up and take down. If I missed naming any others, just know that all of your efforts were appreciated.

RESIDENT’S FORUM MEETING NOTES Sonja Swanson

Resident’s Forum notes are a brief recap of the items discussed at the regular Resident’s Forum meeting. No decisions were made concerning any item and PLV Board members were present to listen only. Any input provided by them was only for informational purposes only and are not to be considered as a final decision or a change in policy of the PLV Board of Directors. Welcome, Rules, Pledge of Allegiance – Dennis Mowrey, M.C. Attendance: 62

Announcement reminders:

Easter Dinner – 1pm social/2pm dinner – sign up on Board by kitchen.

Sunday Open House with vendors – 2 to 4pm – Held inside and outside.

Art Display Change-Out – Sat. 3/14 at 9:30am. Bring your art or take home past art.

Follies Show – Wed. 3/25 Matinee, Fri/Sat. 3/27-28 at 7pm.

Craft Project – 1:30 to 4:30pm. Work on Runner for back table.

St. Patrick’s Day – March 17th – wear your green

Sat., March 21st – Pot Luck – one week early due to Follies Show.

Thank you to all PLV residents for concerns about Celesta. She is progressing well.

Topics discussed:

New Blinds – Slats are easily damaged by Chairs, tables, purses, etc. Be careful.

New Accordion Doors have been installed thanks to the Women’s Club Raffle.

Next raffle is starting soon and will be used for a new dance floor for the Clubhouse.

Form in Mail from HOA – If you have given information already, do NOT come in again.

Fine Schedule: Is it accumulative? Dennis will check. 10 days listed refers to a response. If you receive a letter, TALK to the HOA and explain your situation.

When away from PLV: HOA needs to send letters to location submitted to Office.

How does the HOA hear about problems? They will be monitoring the Park themselves.

What is happening with the CC&R changes? A few details are still needed. Then the Board will decide on a schedule for meetings with the residents.

Notifying Residents regarding incidents that happen: Reminders help us be more cautious. Block watch captains should be informed. Art has promised to put in

newsletter.

Our Newsletter is not being used enough to let people know what is happening in our Park. This applies to all residents, not just the Board. Everyone can submit

articles.

Leaving PLV for weeks? Notify your Block Watch Captain. Make your home look “lived in”, have papers and notes removed, and put a rock in your clippie.

Dale is painting the bridge and dock and will fix some planks. Rotted benches will be replaced with new ones purchased by the Men’s Club.

Communication: The Board is still learning their jobs and new procedures, but more open communication is needed. It helps when residents know what is being

considered.

Finance Committee discussed the problem of being kept informed about financial considerations and the meaning of Sound Business Practice. See full report for

details. The next meeting is Thursday, March 19 at 9:00am. Anyone may attend.

Were there three bids on the aerators before the motion was passed at the Board Meeting? No one was sure. This is part of the Sound Business Practice.

5 Trees too close to wall – A resident was concerned the HOA would cite this. He was told our CC&R director makes the decision based on the danger of damage

to the wall.

Shirley thanked Bunny Scott for her volunteer help with the Clubhouse filing system.

Need of Training and Support: Board Members are trying to learn their jobs without any training. We need a Ninety Day Training Period with past members after

our election.

Our Park is getting older, there is more crime today, and people don’t respect the law. There will be more problems. The Forum is open to talk or ask questions but not criticize. PLV has 3 ½ miles of Sewers that belong to our residents. There is a Sewer study being done. Read report to find out about bugs. No decisions

have been made.

Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.
