ADDING TWITTER SEARCHES TO ROLE

CENTERS

Dynamics AX | Role Centers | Twitter

Twitter is a great tool for research. I use it all the time to find new postings on topics that may be useful in my job. Wouldn’t it be great if you could just have your Twitter searches sent directly to your role center so you don’t have to open up Twitter separately?

In this example we will show how you can easily embed tour favorite Twitter streams into Role Centers in Dynamics AX 2012, making life just a little easier

Find Your Twitter

Feed

The first step is to find the search term in Twitter that you want to embed in your Role Center.

Convert the Search

into an RSS Feed

One of the API’s available within Twitter is the option to return your searches as an RSS feed. The syntax for the URL call is:

http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?q={search}

This will be the source that we will use in the Role Center.

Add the RSS Feed

into the Role Center

Now that we have the RSS feed that we want to add to the Role Center, we can now add the RSS web part and display the search results.

From the Role Center, select the “Personalize Page” link.

Add the RSS Feed

into the Role Center

We copy the URL from the Twitter Search feed that we created in the second step, and also we can update the number of posts to display as well.

into the Role Center

Finally to make everything look tidy, we can update the Title of the Web Part to something a little more informational.
