Using Kaltura’s Interactive Video Quiz Function
Kaltura's Interactive Video Quizzing allows you to:
• Apply short quizzes to test general understanding • Assign long quizzes for topic mastery • Develop and administer test preparation by a teaching assistant • Design and prepare professional certifications • Add marketing surveys for viewer feedback • Use as a test for video validity: "was this video helpful?" • Test with no score: feedback to creator only
The first step is to add a new Kaltura Media Link.
Either select one of your video’s or choose to upload new media.
The quiz video editor will open, note you should maximise your browser to full screen.
On the quiz editor opening screen you can update the quiz name, welcome message, decide if you want an in-‐video tip and decide if you would like the students to be able to download a copy of the quiz questions before they watch the video.
There are other options available by clicking the three dots and selecting an option.
To add a quiz question, play the video and pause at the point you want to add a question.
Click on the plus sign button on the video to add you question.
Enter your question and answers, with the correct answer being in the first green box. You can change the order of the boxes by dragging them into place using the drag handles at the beginning and end of each box.
Click Save to continue watching and inserting further quiz questions.
After you have completed entering your quiz questions click Preview Quiz to check that the quiz works correctly.
If you’re happy with the quiz click ‘Back to Browse and Embed’
Click ‘Select’ to select your video, then click ‘Embed’ to make the video quiz available to students.
Blackboard will present you with the ‘Create Mashup Item’ where you can enter the video title, description etc.
You can check that the quiz works correctly by going into the Blackboard student preview mode.
Reviewing Quiz Results
You can see the results of students completing the quiz in your ‘My Media’ area.
You can access My Media on the Blackboard ‘My Units of Study’ page, it’s located in the bottom left column.
You can filter your video’s so you only see those that contain a quiz.
Click the video title, then on the next page click the ‘Actions’ button and select ‘Analytics’
Under the ‘Quiz Questions’ and ‘Quiz Users’ links you can see your students answers to the quiz questions and you will have the option to download a csv file of their responses.
