Adding a Course Section Description to Announcements 1
Log into Blackboard and enter the desired course.
Click “Create Announcement”
Type or Paste in the Course Section Description text and give it a title/description

Use the date restricted feature to control how long the description is displayed. You can set the
dates so the announcement is not displayed after the course is made available to enrolled students.
Do not email a copy of the announcement.
Click Submit
The announcement will appear in the Announcements section. This section is the default entry point
to the course and will be visible to students who access the shell from the schedule of courses as
guests.
You may wish to retain the description as an announcement and re-use it in future classes. Just
make it unavailable to current course enrollees once the course begins.

The course description in announcements can be seen by guest users who access it via the
Schedule of Classes. In this example ,Communication classes for Spring 2014 that are distance ed-
ucation are searched for.
Matching classes are displayed. Click on the title link and you are taken to the PeopleSoft course
catalog entry page.

The course description from PeopleSoft is visible on this page.
By clicking the Bb link on the page—users can access guest accessible areas of the Blackboard
course shell.
Announcements is the default display area Blackboard courses. Students can see course section
descriptions placed in the announcements area as detailed earlier in this document by clicking on
this Bb link. Syllabi loaded in the default syllabus area would also be available for students to re-
view while making enrollment decisions.
