PART 1 - GENERAL

2. WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
.1 Work of this Contract comprises of milling and paving, to specified depth, existingasphalt on Apron 1, construction of new concrete aircraft parking on stand 1 and1A (Optional Work), and pressure grouting cracks and joints of existing stormsystem under Apron 1. Work to be undertaken includes, but is not limited to thefollowing:
1. Coordination with the Prince George Airport Authority and AirportSecurity to schedule the Commissionaires, airside access, closuresand general airside movements.
2. Paint temporary line markings;
3. Mill existing asphalt surface to specified depths;
4. Clean the milled surface and apply tack coat;
5. Asphalt crack treatment on the milled surface (Provisional Item);
6. Supply and installation of new asphalt overlay;
7. Paint permanent line markings;
8. Temporary fencing with red obstruction lights (Provisional Item);
9. Sawcut and asphalt removal (Provisional Item);
10. Remove existing granular base course to depth specified (ProvisionalItem);
11. Prepare existing granular base surface and apply prime coat(Provisional Item);
12. Supply and installation of new non-reinforced concrete panels,incorporating Owner supplied dowels, dowel baskets and tie-bars intothe Work. (Provisional Item);
13. Pressure grout cracks on existing concrete storm pipes;
14. Survey layout and quantities;
15. Quality control testing.

3. CONTRACT METHOD
.1 Construct Work under unit price contract.
4. WORK SEQUENCE
.1 Construct Work in stages as shown on the drawings to provide forcontinuous airport usage. Do not close off public usage of facilities untiluse of one stage of Work will provide alternate usage.
.2 Maintain fire access/control.
5. OWNER OCCUPANCY
.1 Co-operate with Owner in scheduling operations to minimize conflict and tofacilitate Owner usage.
6. OWNER FURNISHED ITEMS
.1 Owner furnished items are as identified in tender documents and are as follows:
.1 Epoxy coated Smooth Dowel Bars required for the longitudinaland construction PCC panel joints. (Provisional Work)
.2 Wire Dowel Baskets c/w Dowels required for the transverse PCCpanel joints. Baskets will be in (4) groups of 3 and (1) group of 2dowels to account for 14 dowel spacing in 6.000m transversejoints. (Provisional Work)
.3 Epoxy coated Tie Bars required for the concrete transition ramparound the perimeter of new PCC Panels. (Provisional Work)
.4 Temporary plastic low barricades, fillable with water to provideresistance to movement by jet blast.
.5 Steady burning red lights (solar powered).
7. EXISTING SERVICES
.1 Notify the Owner and utility companies of intended interruption of servicesand obtain required permission.
.2 Where Work involves breaking into or connecting to existing services,give the Owner 72 hours’ notice for necessary interruption of mechanicalor electrical service throughout course of work. Minimize duration ofinterruptions. Carry out work at times as directed by Owner withminimum disturbance to operation.
.3 Submit schedule to and obtain approval from Owner for any shut-down orclosure of active service or facility including power and communicationsservices. Adhere to approved schedule and provide notice to affectedparties.

.4 Where unknown services are encountered, immediately advise Engineerand confirm findings in writing.
.5 Protect, relocate or maintain existing active services. When inactiveservices are encountered, cap off in manner approved by authoritieshaving jurisdiction.
.6 Record locations of maintained, re-routed and abandoned service lines.

Part 1 General
1.1 CASH ALLOWANCES
.1 Include in Tender Price specified cash allowances.
.2 Cash allowances, unless otherwise specified, cover net cost to the Contractor ofservices, products, construction machinery and equipment, freight to the PrinceGeorge Airport, handling, unloading, storage, installation and other authorizedexpenses incurred in performing Work including Provincial Sales Tax (PST) ifapplicable.
.3 Tender Price, and not cash allowance, includes Contractor's overhead and profitin connection with such cash allowance.
.4 Tender Price will be adjusted by written order to provide for excess or deficit toeach cash allowance.
.5 Where costs under a cash allowance exceed amount of allowance, theContractor will be compensated for any excess cost incurred and substantiatedplus a 10% allowance on the excess amount to cover Contractor handling costs.
.6 Include progress payments on accounts of work authorized under cashallowances in Consultant's monthly certificate for payment.
.7 Prepare schedule jointly with Consultant to show when items called for undercash allowances must be authorized by Consultant for ordering purposes so thatprogress of Work will not be delayed.
.8 Cash allowances for Work specified in the Contract Documents are as follows:
.1 Security Escorts – A cash allowance has been provided to cover theprovision of security escorts for the project. The Contractor shall beresponsible for payment of the security escorts and escort vehicle basedon submitted timesheets approved by the Consultant.
