The cosmetics industry is highly fashion-oriented and influ-enced by colors, shapes, scents and sensors.

In particular, the colored cosmetics is continuously increasing in diversity.

Effect pigments impart decorative color cosmetics, gloss and glitter, but they can also enhance other body care products such as skin care and cleansing products.

For product concepts whose brand values are bond in vis-uality and color, effect pigments can raise those products to another dimension. These concepts emphasize sustainable brand identity and image by emotion-eliciting color impres-sions.

Effect pigments are chromatic or achromatic, mostly insolu-ble, inorganic or organic colorants.

Their properties are defined by their composition. Effect pig-ments consist of pure or synthetic mica, or titanium dioxide platelets uncoated or their mixtures coated with bismuth- or iron oxides. The color stimulus is generated by the different composite layers.

Through this layer an incoming light wave will be refracted as an absorption, reflection, transmission or interference. Those physical effects induce the optical color effect. The particle size and shape also affects the brilliance and glimmer generating effects. Depending upon the layer thickness the ef-fects vary of silk-dull finish with high skin coverage for leave-on products to spar-kling effects without cover for rinse-off products.

TIMICA® WHITE LUSTER PIGMENTSTimica® white pigments vary in luster from silky and smooth to sparkly. When combing these grades with coneventional pigments to create colored effects, it is best to use tansparent colorants and dyes.
