DESCRIPTION
A therapy known as Bubble CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) is a simple and affordable way to deliver effective respiratory treatment for children who suffer from life-threatening respiratory illnesses, but when the nasal interface responsible for delivering life-sustaining oxygen therapy does not fit, the therapy is compromised. Without an effective nasal seal, children with severe pneumonia are not getting the pressurized gas delivery they need, leading to longer hospitalizations, wasted resources and increased mortality from pneumonia. AdaptAir is the missing link in delivering effective care to dying children in the developing world.TRANSCRIPT

ICDDR,B HOSPITAL - ICU CLINICAL TRIAL
Nurses admit a new baby and randomizeto treatment arm
Dr. Chisti shows a chest X-RAY to the mother
David Janka and Dr. Shahunja make sure AdaptAir isused properly on the first baby: Hiridoi.
First 3 babies on AdaptAir
Hiridoi - 23 months
Monirul - 7 months
Sobor - 14 months
Dr. Chisti with Dr. Sanjoy Kumer Dey
Getting Valuable Feedback from Doctors
Dr. Chisti with Ale Palandjoglou discussing the CAD3D model
Dr. Hasan looking closely
Dr. James underscores the importance of reusability
David shows AdaptAir to ICDDR,B doctors.
Curious ICDDR,Bdoctors got handson the prototypesright away
Getting Valuable Feedback from Nurses and Mothers
Nurses at LAMB Hospital immediately recognized how it was used
Mothers were not afraid to put AdaptAir on their noses
Nurse at ICDDR,B talking about the importance of keeping a good seal
MATLAB
Ale and David explained the benefits of Bubble CPAP at MATLAB
Finding local materials / suppliers for the straps
About 10 meters away from the front gate of LAMB Hospital wefound a supplier with elastic straps
Walked 40 meters and found a tailor who manufactured one head-strap for us
Ale sketching some straps for the tailor
