Pre-productionThe target audience was males aged 18 and over. Research was made into the story, the genre

and style of the game.

DevelopmentMore in depth research was made

into the game and planning was started by writing scripts and

creating characters and checks would be made to see what else

could be added.

ProductionActors were hired and they began recording character

voices and images are added to the game. They also added the sound affects such as the weapons and car sounds to

the game.

Post production Footage would be edited and added into the game then a

prototype would be created to be tested and checked for

glitches in the game. If there where glitches they would try to fix them but not all of them

can be fixed.

GenreGenre means type or the category that a film or a TV show fits in to. For example

Friday the 13 would go in to the category of horror where as Inbetweeners movie would fall into the comedy category.

The game that I have chosen is Grand Theft Auto this would fit in to free roam, action and adventure / shooter category.

This image shows the that the game fits in to the shooter category it is as

the character is shooting a gun.

This image shows that the game fits into the free roam category as the car

is driving around on the game.

Annotation of my products advert

You will find this at the bottom right hand corner of the advert because we read from the left to the right so you are more likely to notice the name.

The white righting is on the black background as it stands out and its easy to see.

The text is unique so when you see it you associate it with grand theft auto

Grand theft auto can be shortened to GTA which is well known by Rockstar fans

The trailer is 6 minutes long and this image is shown at the begging

of the trailer and at the end of the trailer. This will help you find the game as the title is

unique

Annotation of my products advert

This shot shows how the gun play has evolved since the last GTA as you can hide behind walls and shoot where as the last GTA you couldn't’t.

This image shows that the character in the picture is the main character in the game.

This image shows how the graphics have developed through out the GTA history the games before this one you couldn't’t really see things in as much detail.

From the Background you can tell that the game is set in an urban environment as you can see from the big buildings

Summary

I think that this screen shot is the most effective out of the two as the other one is only the name of the game so there if more going on this screen shot shows that the game is set in an urban environment, it also shows a bit of gun play from the game. The other advert screen shot is the name and this shows how from the style of the text you can tell which game is being advertised.

Strengths

There are No major competitors for them to compete against.

They have a Good reputation.

The game is owned by a Well known brand name.

Page 11: Adam Danton Unit One Work

Weaknesses

Wont sell as many copies due to the age rating.

Lots of violence and use of weapons so concerned parents wont let their children buy the game.

Losses costumers because of there competitors bringing out newer games.

Age restrictions affect the level of advertising as they can not show the full extent of the game.

Page 12: Adam Danton Unit One Work

Opportunities

The can bring out new versions of the game for example GTA 5 which will make them lots of money.

They have the power to expand others games by bringing out sequels such as LA noire 2

They could bring out a film of GTA which would be a good opportunity to make money and advertise for their games that they have made.

Page 13: Adam Danton Unit One Work

Threats

Their will be other game companies trying to make games similar to GTA

If parents complain about how violent it is they could not let them sell the game any more.

Running out of ideas for games because they have made lots of GTA games,

Page 15: Adam Danton Unit One Work

Advert analysis

The main fuscous of the advert is the product that makes the lips look as shiny as they are. This helps to attract attention to the advert.

We also said that the packaging and logo were at the bottom of the page

We spoke about how the lips and the teeth were perfect so they have been altered on the computer they do this so that the advert is appealing to the audience.

The lips and the teeth show a sexual attraction.

Re presentation

Re presentation Its how the media remake and re mode the real.

Wanted posters featuring the characters from the game were placed around Belgium, to advertise the game in it's own unique genre.

These posters are made to represent the criminal aspect of the main character and gives a clue to what the game is about.

The poster looks like a realistic mug shot of a criminal

This is the main character of the game and he is the criminal in the game, how one side of the face is light the other is dark this shows that the character has two sides a good side and a bad side.

Constraints

GTA has constraints because of the game content. GTA contains sex scenes drugs strong language and violence, because of this the game age rating is 18 so people under the age of 18 can not buy it, however they still play on the game as they get parents or older siblings to go in the shop and buy it for them or they can also buy the game online which has no age restrictions. GTA also have to get a license to play certain music from in game

ESRB are in charge of rating games

Today in Media we looked at how Legal and Ethical constraints affect the Media:

Eddie and James looked at Libel and the ASA.

Reece, Dean and Andy looked the BBC Trust and The BBFC.

Jake and Nicole looked at The Leveson enquiry and The Press Complaints Commission .

Adam and Harry looked at Ofcom and MCPS.
