Course: Acupuncture Techniques 2 Date: 3/3/08 Class #: 8 – practice day Dr. Qiu didn’t cover these much, but they were heavily tested on the final! Remember them, practice them! Know the back shu’s that correspond to these as well—know what BL point is for which back shu! BL 42 T3 Lung po hu BL 44 T5 Heart shen tang BL 47 T9 Liver hun men BL 49 T11 Spleen yi she BL 52 L2 Kidney zhi shi These house the po, shen, hun, yi, zhi respectively. Emotional points. Similar needling to back shu. 1 st 4 are oblique. At L2, go perpendicularly. Emo disorder, stress, anxiety, grief, fear. 2 nd bladder line. 1 st bladder line for the organs, 2 nd for the emotions connected. Will also needle BL 31 and BL 32 just above sacral foramen. Needle perpendicularly and actually into the foramen. Sacral nerves branch out of cauda equina. Perp needling might touch nerve. Pt might feel nerve sensation – no more strong stimulation! Many of these are along the nerve pathways, so no strong stim where there is a nerve trunk. Get qi sensation (include bl 33 and 34). Use rotating technique.
