ACTS of the Apostle News ACTS of the Apostle Assembly 2411 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Chantilly, VA XXIV Vol. 7 Over 100 years of Patriotic Service January 2019 Navigator First of all, thank you for your trust and encouragement in electing me as Faithful Navigator. For the remainder of the fraternal year I will work hard on improving communications, revitalizing recruitment and looking for patriotic events the Assembly can participate in. For those of you who were not at the Assembly’s Christmas Party and PFN Dinner it was a marvelous affair. We had 31 Sir Knights and Ladies in attendance. I would especially like to thank Jim and Marilee Adams for hosting the event in their lovely home. What warm and gracious hosts! Amid the holiday festivities we honored our two most recent PFN’s Tom Yehl and Art Luna. They are a credit to the Assembly and we are very proud of them and thankful for their service. If you know some worthy Knighthood (Third) Degree members of your respective councils that would make good candidates for the honor of the Patriotic (Fourth) Degree, please encourage them to submit their application to be a member of our Assembly. The next Exemplification will be on April 27, 2019 at St. Edward’s Parish in Richmond, VA. As we move forward, let’s do so in a collaborative fashion where all Sir Knights can feel valued and make the Assembly more attractive not only to new Sir Knights but to those Sir Knights who have fallen away. We would like to bring them back into the fold. If you have any suggestions as to how to improve the Assembly please let me know. Vivat Jesus, Jason Huh Faithful Navigator Captain’s Log The Fr. Nudd Council will be responsible for providing the meal for the January 28 Assembly Meeting. Appetizers will be available at 6:30 pm, dinner at 7:00 pm, followed by the business meeting at 8:00 pm. Navigator First of all, thank you for your trust and encouragement in electing me as Faithful Navigator.

Vivat Jesus,

Jason Huh Faithful Navigator Captain’s Log The Fr. Nudd Council will be responsible for providing the meal for the January 28 Assembly Meeting. Appetizers will be available at 6:30 pm, dinner at 7:00 pm, followed by the business meeting at 8:00 pm.

Please review the schedule below to be aware of your Council’s assigned month to provide the Assembly meal.

Regular Attendee List: J. Adams, P. Bayer, J. Beres, T. Canavan, J. Cota, P. Hannan, M. Lynch, M. Paulucci, T. Yehl, A. Grimmig, T. Martin, G. Alexa

We normally have 12 regular attendees at the meal plus another six attendees for total of about 20 Sir Knights. We would like to see the meals be a profitable enterprise by preparing only enough food to serve the planned attendees.

The dinner schedule for each month follows: Jan & Jun - Fr. Nudd Council

Feb & Aug - Fr. Cilinski Council

Mar & Sep - St. Chung Hasang Council April & Oct - St. Veronica Council

May & Nov - St. Clare Council

Dec & July- Catered

The Regular Attendee List is for members who plan on attending every meeting to ensure we have ample food for them. If you are on the list and cannot attend a meeting, please let me know so we will not prepare more food than is needed. If your name is not on the Regular Dinner List, but you are planning to attend an upcoming Dinner/ Meeting, please contact me one week in advance so I can provide a more accurate head count to the council preparing the meal. Unless otherwise notified, all of our Assembly dinners/meetings will be held in St. Timothy’s Parish Cafeteria.

Commanders Crossed Swords Our Commander’s Column was inadvertently left off of the last Assembly Newsletter, and this column is primarily based on that report.

The Assembly Color Corps helped celebrate the International Festival at St. Timothy’s Parish on Saturday, October 20. Members of the Color Corps participated in the Procession from the Church to the courtyard where the International Rosary was recited by Parish members in several different languages.

St. Paul Chung conducted a Confirmation Mass on Tuesday, October 23, and St. Clare held their Confirmation Mass on Friday, October 26, with Bishop Emeritus as the Presiding Prelate at both events. Members of the Color Corps formed an Honor Guard for the Bishop at both Confirmation Masses.

Several members of our Assembly Color Corps supported the autumn Patriotic Degree Exemplification held on Saturday, October 27. Our own Associate Marshal, Al Grimmig, helped organize and coordinate the Exemplification Ceremony. Sir Knights Joe Beres, Paul Hannon, and Thomas Yehl served as escorts at the Ceremony.

Any Knight should consider being a marshal at the March of Life on Friday, January 18, starting at 8:30 am at the KOC RV near the Smithsonian/National Mall Metro.

Virginia District Master, Steve Raschke, at a recent Navigator’s Meeting, reemphasized that the last date that Sir Knights may wear the traditional regalia will be on June 30,

2019. After that date, only the new uniform may be worn. Knights Gear is no longer selling the new uniform. If you wish to order the new uniform, please place your order at -- kofcuniform.com

Sir Knights who wish to join the Color Corps must take the Training, and as a reminder, every member of the Color Corps must renew his Training every two years. We will inform the members of the Assembly about any Training sessions, as soon as we learn the dates of the sessions.

It is not too early to start planning for the next Patriotic Degree Exemplification, which will be held on April 27, 2019 at St. Edward’s Parish in Richmond, VA. This will be a one-day event with the Ceremony, late lunch, and Mass at 5:00 pm.

In the short term, we need to have everyone that has loaner Regalia to let us know what has been borrowed, so we can put together a complete list of what we have and need since everyone is a different size. Please provide us with your name and size of Regalia so we can assess the Assembly’s needs.

Commander Michael Lynch and Associate Commander Thomas Yehl

Comptroller Greetings Sir Knights! I would like to remind those who have not yet paid their 2019 dues to please pay them. They remain at $20 per year and you can make the check payable to "Acts

of the Apostles" and mail to my address at: 6757 Gray Post Ct, Centreville, VA 20121. You can also pay via PayPal – the link is in the Assembly website in the News and Announcements tab. For those who have already paid, thank you!

With regard to Voucher Forms, to the extent possible, we ask that members submit their scanned voucher forms and receipts to me before our monthly meetings via email and insert a budget line item (our budget can be viewed online on the Assembly website). If you don't know what to put in, don't worry we will figure it out later. Hope to see you at the next meeting.
