•Jews born in Israel were not free citizens of the Roman Empire. But Jews who belonged to this special synagogue were born in free

cities. They had Roman citizenship by birth. Paul, who later became an Apostle, must

have been one of these. He was from Tarsus, a city in Cilicia. He had Roman citizenship from birth (Acts 22:25-30).

•Paul was one of the leaders in the murder of Stephen (Acts 8:1).

•Jews born in Israel were not free citizens of the Roman Empire. But Jews who belonged to this special synagogue were born in free

cities. They had Roman citizenship by birth. Paul, who later became an Apostle, must

and death.•As he was dying, Stephen was given a vision of heaven and of Jesus there waiting for him.
