How to Stay Best Friends After High School?
FRIENDS and FRIENDSHIPS
• There are different kinds of friends. And there are idioms about friends and friendships. Can you guess what they mean?
• People get friends in different life stages. We have to admit that good friends are hard earned. It would be a pity that you lose your best friends after you graduate from high school. Here are some tips to help you keep your friendships going.
Tip #1
• Planning the future: – Talk with your friend about
her/his plans for the summer and the next year.
– Exchange your thoughts and feelings toward the future with each other.
Tips #2
• Doing something special together:– road trip, concert, camping trip,
etc, especially before the end of the summer.
Tip #4
• Taking more effort:– Make your friendship a priority. It
may not be as convenient as it was in high school so it takes more effort.
Tip #5
• Keeping in touch:– Make sure you get all her/his
contact information (address, phone number, email) before graduation.
– Don’t let a month go by without contacting your friend. Take the initiative!
Tip #6
• Sharing new experiences:– Be honest with her/him about the
new things you experience, even if you don’t feel like she/he can relate.
Tip #7
• Doing things together:– When you have the
opportunity, do something special again. Make this a tradition.
Final Reminder-1/2
• Staying best friends does not mean that your friendship will stay the same. As you get older and change over time, so will your friendship.
Final Reminder-2/2
• It is likely that you might grow apart gradually. Give your friends the best wish and keep the beautiful memories in mind for good.
