  • SYNOPSIS OF LITERACY ACTIVITY (Grammar)

    Students are continually given exposure to oral and written language to develop fluency while speaking and more skilful while writing, in the process raising more confident orators and writers.

    PREPOSITION:The students will understand thata preposition is a word that tells us the position of the noun with other words in a sentence. They act to connect the people, objects, time and locations of a

    sentence. Prepositions are usually short words and they are normally placed

    directly in front of nouns like: in, on, under, above, in front of, near, behind etc.

    PUNCTUATIONS:Students will learn and understand that punctuation is used in a sentence to bring about sense and clarity in it. It also helps to structure and organise our writing. (.) Full stop - We put a full stop at the end of a sentence. (,) Comma – We put a comma between nouns and adjectives.

    Example: I have pencils, pens and erasers in my box. (noun) My mother is tall, smart and beautiful. (adjective) Comma also indicates pause in a speech. Example: If you cook, Rahul would serve the food.

    ( ! ) Exclamation mark – We put an exclamation mark after commands, interjections or words that show surprise or anger. Example: Pay attention! (commands), Wow, that truck is huge!(interjection) Oh! What a glorious victory! (surprise)

    ( ? ) Question mark –We put a question mark after a question. These are some of the punctuations that would be taken up explaining the usage of each one to the students.

    UNJUMBLE SENTENCES: Students will learnto unjumble the words in an order to make it a meaningful sentence and easy to understand. Example: going/ park/ is/ Rahul/ to/ the/ Rahul is going to the park.

    JOLLY PHONICS WORKBOOK FOR BUILDING NEW VOCABULARY: • Commas in List – page11. Make students understand that the

    commas are used to separate the words in a list. • Exclamations marks – page 13. Make the students understand that

    the exclamation marks is used to express the strong feelings about something.

    • Spelling rules Soft saying the/j/ sound and Hard . Example: When ‘g’ is followed by e, i, y it sounds like’j’. The letter ‘g’

    has two sounds, hard ‘g’ and soft ‘g’. The hard sound of ‘g’ occurs more frequently. Its sound is heard in gas, got, gum, etc. Soft ‘g’

    sounds like ‘j’. It is heard in gem, giant, gym, etc. • Prepositions – page 61. Make the students understand that

    Preposition tells us the position of an object in a sentence.

  • READING: Reading is one of the most fundamental skills a student needs to acquire, as it enriches vocabulary, attention span and inculcates lifelong love for books. Students would do model, chorus and individual and silent reading

    of (Fitzroy Reader 24- The Cat, the Dog and the Vet).

    SYNOPSIS OF NUMERACY ACTIVITIES

    To nourish student’s thinking skills and develop their logical and analytical skills, the following concepts will be done in the class

    NUMBER CONCEPTS: Forward Counting – 500 to 600, Number Concepts (500-600)

    Using manipulatives (Ganit mala and SauRangon Ki Khoj)

    ADDITION: • Students will learn the basics of Addition how to add, sum or ‘bring

    together’ two or more numbers to make a new number. • The ability to ‘Add up’ is important in all aspects of life, at home,

    school, work and socially. The plus sign(+) is used to denote an addition.

    Example: 12+ 11 = 23 • Addition will be taught by using objects (pencils, books), Dimes and

    Maan cards.

    SUBTRACTION:

    • Subtractmeans to take away from a group or number of things. The minuend, subtrahend and difference are parts of a Subtraction.

    Example: 15- 10= 5

    • The part that is left after subtraction is called the difference. Through subtraction students will identify with the terms like less or ‘take away’ and find the difference and will strengthen their backward counting.

    The learning and understanding of Concept always helps children to

    develop their own insight, explore and connect with their natural and

    human made surroundings so they would explore about

    SOURCES OF FOOD: The food isfact of life.The student will be made to

    understand that the food is procured from two sources.

    • Plant as a source : fruits, vegetables, medicines, paper etc • Animal as a source: egg, meat, milk, cheese etc.

  • FARM AND ZOO ANIMALS: Student will understand the difference

    between the farm and the zoo animals, their habitat, their young ones

    and would be sensitized toward taking care of them whether farm or

    zoo.

    Example: Farm animals: cow, sheep, duck, goat, hen, fish, pig, etc.

    Zoo animals: lion, tiger, leopard, bear, elephant, deer, etc.

    ANIMALS AND THEIR PRODUCTS: We want to understand the world of

    animals to enhance the lives of humans and animals through mutually

    beneficial interactions.

    Animals are important part of our lives. They are friendly with humans, like cats, dogs, etc. They can be tamed and give useful products, like horses, camels,

    elephants etc. can be tamed and cow-milk, buffaloes-milk, sheep-wool, hen-egg, meat, etc.

    There are pet animals, animals used for leisure activity, working animals and animals consumed for food.

    PROCESS OF MILK PRODUCTION:The focus is on premium quality of milk, starts with the farmer and his cows followed all the way till final delivery.

    Step 1: Rearing: Raising and caring cows Step 2: Harvesting: Cows are ready to be milked. Step 3: Storing: Milk collected is stored in refrigerated. Step 4: Transportation: Every 24-48 hours milk is moved in silos to

    factory sites. Step 5: Lab Testing: Milk samples are tested. Step 6: Processing: Once approved it undergoes further processing. Step 7: Packaging: Milk is ready to be packaged for delivery to the

    stores. Step 8: Selling: Milk is ready for the customers.

    Milk is also used to make Dairy Products like butter, buttermilk, curd/yogurt, ghee, condensed milk, powdered milk, khoya, ice-cream, paneer, etc.

    SYNOPSIS OF THEMATIC ACTIVITIES

    Learning by doing and giving hands on experiences to the students always triggers the creativity, critical thinking and problem solving in them thus in the process creating future learners. Keeping this in view, the students would accomplish few interesting activities.

    ACTIVITY - ON THE FARM OR AT THE ZOO:In this activity students will discuss the relation between people and different kinds of animals, further categorizing animals into two groups that is farm and zoo. The students will also be made aware that all food we eat either we get them from plants or from animals.

  • ACTIVITY - GIFTS OF FARM ANIMALS TO HUMAN: The objective of this activity is to make the students recognize and realize that we get different food products from animals, useful for human beings, so the animals should be treated kindly.

    ICT skills are imperative for students to build strong communication skills.The students will learn:

    How to insert different types of text boxes. Word Art Insert and draw tables. Insert row and column in a table. Insert online pictures and shapes.

    FORMS AND COLOURS

    Art always has a tranquilizing effect on the minds of children and along with the fun ailment inculcates an immense sense of discipline. Considering the seamless integration, students will learn to draw different animals from the farm and colour them with brushes (abstract art technique).

  • MUSIC AND MELODY Learning music promotes craftsmanship, enhances creativity and

    calmness of mind and body. Our students would be encouraged to learn and sing various songs (Together We Can Change The World, You Can

    Count On Trees) along with our School Song and National Anthem.

    MOVEMENT DANCE:Through dance, students learn teamwork, focus and improvisational skills. Dance awakens new perceptions in children which help them learn and think in new ways. The students would learn Kalbeliya form of dance (from Rajasthan) along with preparation of Assembly dance. PHYSICAL EDUCATION:In a healthy body resides a healthy mind. So a lot of emphasis is given on physical exercise be it Football/ Cricket/ Gross Motor Activities.
