DefinitionPUPILS CENTRED LEARNING

Students are directly involved and invested in the discovery of their own knowledge.

Through collaboration and cooperation with others, students engage in experiential learning that is authentic, holistic, and

challenging.

Experts say :

“student-centered approach lets students

take on a proactive role by working with others, using a variety of resources, and

learning and evaluating skills on a continuous basis that they can use

throughout life (Alley, 1996)”

Page 8: ACTIVITIES IN LEARNING STRATEGY

• The more opportunities students have to move and change positions, the better they will behave ( Henley, 2006 )

• The teacher’s role is more that of a facilitator than instructor; the students are active participants in the learning process. The teacher helps to guide the students, manage their activities, and direct their learning. Being a teacher means helping people to learn (Jones, 2007, p. 2).

Teacher-Centered VS Student-Centered Learning

Student-Centered Learning

• The teacher would act as a facilitator, while the students discussed their ideas, and created more ideas.

• The students work together in-groups while discussing their ideas

• During the lessons, the students are active and they can lead the lesson with their ideas and conclusions.
