2019C1 EWU AUAP MAY Classes Monthly Calendar of Events - 3 Halloween Activities - 4 CLASSES Students went to a llama farm to learn about a local business. They also participated in a job fair where they were interviewed by professionals on campus. In other classes, they learned the history of the Harlem Renaissance, the 30s and 40s in America, and the exploration of space. They also studied the Civil Rights Movement and learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcom X. For their Global Issues class, they learned about urbanization and population issues. They also discussed the quality of life around the world. Finally, they worked on preparing and writing a biography speech. They’ll be presenting these speeches in classes during their final month of AUAP. ACTIVITIES Students participated and volunteered in Diversity Week at EWU. They had a live band performance and helped serve food. They additionally visited and volunteered at two different elementary schools and taught Japanese culture to children. Students also went on a hike on Tubb’s Hill in Idaho and traveled to Portland where they went shopping and visited the Portland Zoo. They visited Multnomah Falls on the way back to Cheney. Two special Ramadan Coffee Talks were also held where students had a pot luck with other international students to celebrate the occasion. Finally, students volunteered for Art Fest, an outdoor festival in Spokane and went to Spokanimal, where they socialized cats and dogs at the shelter.

5⽉のAUAP 5⽉も⾊々な授業、イベント、遠⾜、旅⾏、ボランティアが

ありました。 まず、EWUのダイバーシティウィークにて、学⽣たちはライブ演奏をしたり、料理を盛ったり、浴⾐や着物の着付けを⾒

せたりしました。 ボランティアで地元の2つの⼩学校を訪れ、⽇本⽂化を⼦供

たちに教えました。 また、スポケーンアートフェスにてボランティアをしたり、

スポケーンのアニマルシェルターにて猫や⽝の⾯倒をお⼿伝

いしました。

遠⾜ではアイダホのタブズヒルにてハイキングをしました。

旅⾏でポートランドに⾏き、買い物を楽しんだり、動物園に

⾏ったり、チニーの帰り道にマルトノマ滝を訪れました。 ラマダンの時期のコーヒートークでは、それぞれ⻝べ物を持

ちより、ラマダンのお祝いをしました。

授業の⼀貫で、ラマ牧場を訪れ地元企業について学びまし

た。

また、学⽣たちは、就職フェアに参加し、キャンパス内でプ

ロによる⾯接を受けました。

その他の授業では、ハーレム•ルネサンス、1930年、1940年代のアメリカ、宇宙探索の歴史を勉強しました。また、アフ

リカ系アメリカ⼈公⺠権運動にて、マーティンルーサーキン

グ牧師や、マルコムXについても勉強しました。グローバルイシューの授業では、都市化問題、⼈⼝問題を学

び、世界中にて質の⾼い⽣活とは何かと討論しました。

学⽣たちは、AUAPの最後の⽉にバイオグラフィースピーチのプレゼンをするため、それぞれ準備を始めました。
