Hard work is rewarding as we learn and grow together in producing some beautiful music, but the reward doesn’t stop there. One of the best parts of our Thursdays is eating lunch together after re- hearsal. Carrie Hanson, our church hostess, provides our group with a delicious soup/salad/sandwich meal each week with dessert and tea/coffee all for just $7.00! It’s one of the best lunch deals in town. Not only is the food good, but our fellowship with each other is the real draw. We normally have around 25 stay for lunch each Thursday. The laughter and conversations that we enjoy enrich our lives on a weekly basis. The enrichment goes on still. The mission of the choir is not to sing for our church, but to sing in our community. The choir takes a half hour program out into our community each fall and spring. We sing at assisted living facilities, senior centers, nursing homes, and adult day care centers. Each time the choir goes out, it shares the love of Christ with those that listen. The fall program is the message of the Christmas story, and the spring program is filled with patriotic music and broadway tunes at the beginning, and ends with stirring hymn ar- rangement and prayer for the residents. After singing, the members of the choir intermingle with the residents and guests, usually delivering a little “gift” for them with our church name and information on it. Without fail when the choir returns to the bus to leave, stories are shared about the blessings each received from both singing, as well as meeting someone special and having a conversation with them. Here’s what Stan Wier has to say about his involvement: “Singing in the Mellow Brook Singers as a non-member of MBBC has been a great opportunity to fulfill my need to sing for the glory of God and to meet great people who have become my friends over the last five years. What started as a favor to a friend (Kely) who asked if I could sing with this group to fill a need has turned into a need filled in my life by God. I have made many good friends in this group and we have made a meaningul difference in the lives of the many to whom we sing. What started as a happenstance of running into my friend at breakfast has turned into a great chance to serve God and those who are in need of someone to care about them.” The choir plans to sing in our community four times this spring: April 30, May 7, 14, and 21. The choir is also taking its ministry on tour to St. Louis, MO the week of April 19-24. Be in prayer for all of the singers as they spread the love of Christ outside the walls of our church. “It means Joy to me. I look forward to each opportunity to sing for our appreciative audience!” - June Fletcher
