  2. 2. I listened to a nativeFrench speaker andnoted the phoneticcoding in a way inwhich I couldremember. I also highlightedspelling points so thatI can listen out forthem in the future
  3. 3. Having noted the native Frenchspeakers pronunciation of the words Irepeated them in the same way. This helped me to reaffirm the properpronunciation which I could then use inoral French classes. Knowing the proper pronunciation alsoallowed me to listen out for it inlistening exercises However, it did not help me rememberthe spelling of words. I continued tospell ractionnaire as reactionairewhich is close but not close enough! Inorder to do well I need completeaccuracy. I therefore addressed the problems inthe next slide.
  4. 4. First of all I identifiedproblems such as: Masculine or Feminine? Spelling / grammar points are there accents? Using highlighters tohighlight the problemsdrew my attention to themand therefore made iteasier to remember themin the future. The combination oflistening to the words andlooking at their spellinghelped assure me of thecorrect way to write it
  5. 5. However, I felt I needed to developa way to make sure I knew thespellings. As a result I looked at the word,listened to the word, wrote it downand continued to identify theproblems I had encountered earlyas a means of checking. I then repeatedly wrote them down:this helped me get used to writing itand further drew my attention tothe problems such as GENDER,SPELLING and ACCENTS. I then continued to highlight theproblems I had addressed in orderto reiterate differences in spellings.
  6. 6. As a further check Iused the new vocabactively. Using the vocabcreatively: thinking ofmy own sentencesmade it personal andtherefore easier toremember Again, using colourhighlighters to checkpreviously identifiedareas were checked
