ACTIVE LIVING “Promoting Independent Lifestyles”
Senior Resources of Guilford is proud to be the first organi-
zation to bring the National Council on Aging’s Aging Mas-
tery Program (AMP) to North Carolina. The Aging Mas-
tery Program (AMP) is a 5-week educational program
which combines goal-setting, daily practices and peer sup-
port to help program participants master aging by making
meaningful changes that promote health and independence.
Each week’s session addresses two topics on the following
topics: Navigating Longer Lives; Sleeping patterns, Exer-
cise, Healthy Eating and Hydration, Medication Manage-
ment, Falls Prevention, Advanced Planning, Financial Fit-
ness, Healthy Relationships and Community Engagement.
AMP incorporates evidenced informed materials, expert
speakers, group discussion and peer support to give partici-
pants the skills and tools needed to achieve measurable im-
provements in managing their health, remaining economi-
cally secure and actively contributing to society. Senior Re-
sources’ Greensboro Senior Center will be presenting its
third offering of AMP in our community five consecutive

Antareans living incognito as humans. Art, Ben, Joe and their
friends soon discover this and offer to help the Antareans return
the cocoons back to Antarea; and as a reward, they are offered
something unusually magnificent.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Guilford County, Let’s Do Lunch!
*Hundreds of older adults in our community
are homebound and in need of nutritional
support. Please consider volunteering 2
hours a month to delivering nutritious, noon-
time meals to frail, vulnerable senior resi-
dents of Guilford County. If you would like
more information about how you can make a
difference as a Meals on Wheels volunteer
please call Senior Resources of Guilford’s
Volunteer Coordinator, James Joyce at (336)
373-4816.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of every-
thing that we do! If you are inter-
ested in sharing your time and
talents in the Senior Center please
call Renee Griffin or Denise Marley at
(336) 373-4816, or visit our website
(www.senior-resources-guilford.org)
to fill out a volunteer application.
*Make a difference in the lives of seniors who are no longer able to drive to their medical appoint-ments by volunteering to drive an older adult to their preventative medical appointment. It only takes a few hours to help ensure that a senior re-ceives the preventative healthcare essential to maintaining independence. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles and must have a valid NC Driver’s License. For more information on how to become a Senior Wheels Volunteer Driver call Audrey McLaughlin at (336) 373-4816 ext. 245.
*The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) has a new counseling site in Pleasant Garden. We are looking for candidates to be-come SHIIP volunteers for the
Pleasant Garden area. SHIIP provides an online course and extensive in-house train-ing and support for its volunteers. If you are interested in helping individuals navigate the Medicare maze in Pleasant Garden or in other areas of Guilford County call Bob Boyd, Guilford County SHIIP Coordinator at (336) 373-4816 ext . 253.
