Configuration1(AIPCSU1)providesastraightthroughpathfortheBIUoutputtotheCSU

    outputwithoutanycombining.AtypicalapplicationforthisconfigurationiswhennocombiningofBaseStationfeedsisrequiredorwhereexternalcombiningisdesired.Thisconfigurationprovidesflexibilitytouseexternalcomponentsforcombiningandsplitting.

    Configuration2(AIPCSU2)containsa2x1powerdividerforBIUslots5and6,andasecond2x1powerdividerforBIUslots7and8.Slots1through4arestraightthroughconnections.The2x1powerdividercombinestheBIUoutputinthedownlinkdirectionandsplitstheBIUinputsignalsintheuplinkdirection.Atypicalapplicationforthisconfigurationiswheninternalcombiningisdesiredtosaverackspaceandflexibilityisnotrequired.ThepowerdividersallowfortwosetsofBaseStationfeeds,ofthesamefrequency,tobecombined.Asanexample,1900MHzUMTSNodeBcanbecombinedwith1900MHzGSMBaseStation.However,itisimportanttonotethatanycombiningmustbeimplementedwithfrequencyspecificBIUs,asthecombinedsignalsarefedtoabandspecificDAS.Theremainingstraightthroughconnectionsforports1through4canbeusedforcaseswherecombiningisnotrequired.Asanexample,700MIMOcouldbedeployedinthesamespacewherecombiningofmultiplecarriersisnotrequired.

    Configuration3(AIPCSU3)containsone3x1powerdividerforBIUports3through5,andasecond3x1powerdividerforports6through8;ports1and2arestraightthoughconnections.AtypicalapplicationforthisconfigurationissimilartoConfiguration2,withtheexceptionbeingthecombiningofthreeBaseStationfeeds.

    Configuration4(AIPCSU4)containsjustone4x1powerdividerforcombiningBIUports5through8,whileBIUports1through4remainasstraightthroughconnections.ThistypicalapplicationissimilartoConfiguration2andConfiguration3.

    CAUTION! Forconfigurations2,3,and4,anycombiningmustbeimplementedwithbandspecificBIUs.Also,foranypowerdividerportnotusedwithaBIUslot,thisslotmustbefilledwithaTerminationBIUModulethatcontainsa50Ohmtermination.AllpowerdividerportsmustbeterminatedeitherwithabandspecificBIUoraTerminationBIUModuleforoptimalperformance.
