Stockwood Neighbourhood Forum 18th November 2010
Stockwood Neighbourhood Forum Feedback on priorities from 12th August 2010
Recycling site at rear of shops on Harden Road – overflowing and fly tipping around the bank
Enforcement officer and PCSOs have monitored the bank regularly and investigated any bags dumped around the bank. No evidence has yet been found but the work is ongoing. Frequency of collection from the bank has been increased from once a week to four times a week The Environmental Group discussed the placement of the recycling bank. The general feeling was that the location was good for most residents, but the possibility of screening the bank would be looked into.
Actions outstanding:
Investigate if the bank could be screened and the cost of this Enforcement and PCSOs to monitor when passing for fly tips
Stockwood Green Primary School – future use of the building
The Childrens and Young Peoples Services (CYPS) department of the council was contacted for an update on the site. There are a number of organisations that had already shown an interest in the site and it was proposed that a joint expression of interest was submitted as a partnership between these local groups. This has been drafted. The CYPS department may still want to use the site and are currently looking into the viability of this. A request has been made that the facilities could be used by the community at the weekends. This is being pursued and will be a longer term piece of work.
Actions outstanding
IT is suggested that this is escalated to the Neighbourhood Partnership as an ongoing community priority, and to look at community provision in Stockwood as a larger piece of work.
Speeding Hollway Road – 9pm to 11pm

The Withies – requires a ‘No through Road ‘T’ Sign to prevent vehicles entering thinking it’s a through road
Information passed on to Bath and North East Somerset Council as The Withies is not in the Bristol City Council area
Recycling collections – operatives leave the cardboard and it blows about
The Waste Area Co-ordinator has been informed about this - the contractors have to leave the streets clean after collections and this is specified in the waste contract and they have been reminded of their obligation. Please contact the council directly if this happens again on 0117 922 2100
Street cleaning – not done on the right day (streets cleaned on Mondays, refuse collection done on Wednesdays)
The Waste Area Co-ordinator has been informed about this - the contractors have to leave the streets clean after collections and this is specified in the waste contract and they have been reminded of their obligation. The Waste Area Co-ordinator has looked into the collections and the street cleaning in Stockwood, and the scheduling means that it may be difficult to change the days of cleaning. However, if the problem persists, this will be looked at through the Environment Group.
