Competition RulesEligibility: This competition is open to Year Three pupils from governm

schools only.

Each Action Song team comprises members from the same scho Team: Each team should comprise 5 to 15 pupils inclusive of perfo

musicians. Each team should be accompanied by 2 teachers.

Time: On-stage presentation is 5 to 8 minutes. Marks will be deduct

thereafter. 2 minutes is allocated for stage preparation before anminutes after the presentation with the two teachers as stage technicians.

Performance should be confined to the stage only.

The timing of the presentation starts with the first movement or

uttered by the singers or any sound effects produced.

Presentation: Creativity is encouraged. Nevertheless, movementsshould not exceed and overwhelm the articulation of the song bythe contestants. Miming and prompting is not allowed.

Props: Props should be minimal . Costume: Participants should wear appropriate costumes in line with the

characters they portray.

Music:

Use of recorded music is allowed (only minus-one music). Use of musical instruments is allowed. However, musicians must sing

and perform together with the team members during presentation. The performance must be a continuous medley of songs withou

obvious gaps or breaks.

Adjudication:

Language Proficiency (45 marks) Marks will be awarded based on the following:

i. correct, clear and accurate pronunciationii. clear enunciation and intonationiii. correct use of grammariv. appropriate and effective choice of words (diction)v. fluency

Delivery and Presentation (35 marks ) Marks will be awarded based on the following:i. well coordinated and creative choreographyii. rhythm, timing and tempoiii. voice type and pitchiv. voice projection and clarity

v. team cooperation and coordination

Theme (15 marks) Marks will be awarded based on the following:i. interest and appealii. significance and impact of meaningiii. continuity in sequence and action

iv. integrated values Costumes and Props (5 marks) Marks will be awarded based on the following:i. suitabilityii. creativity

Penalty: A total of 5 marks to be deducted if:i. sensitive issues touchedii. below or above stipulated time (on-stage presentation)iii. above stipulated time (stage preparation before and after the presen

iv. stipulated exclusions under competition guidelines infringed
