The Emergency Decree for Genoa (Law n, 130, 136. 145 of 2018) foresees:
An Action Plan in response to the collapse of the Morandi Bridge
Approval by the Reconstruction Commissioner andimplemenatation by Port Authority
Funded with financial resources allocated by the EmergencyDecree, the Port Authority and other public and privateorganisations
A 3-year timeframe and added flexibility phased in theimplementation of designated projects connected to theconstruction of the new Bridge

Review of road and rail access to the Port Basin of Pra’
The new 3-lane viaduct is designedto phase in:

The expansion of the Fincantieri-Sestri Ponente site is designed to equip the shipyard with a facility which can accommodate the latest generation of vesselsand strengthen the port’s overall position as centre of ship constuctionexcellence.Investment: 300 million euros
Extension of the airport terminal building: first phase
To cater for the increase in passenger throughput, an extensionof the terminal building and upgrading of the range of servicesoffered to cruise and business class passengersInvestment first phase: 16 million euros
Restructuring of the Via Pionieri e Aviatori D’Italia viaduct
The restructuring of the viaduct is vital to the creation ofa direct link between the airport and the motorway and to the construction of the new Erzelli railway station.Investment: 3 million euros
The new circular access road to the Sampierdarena basin
The extension of the port roadway (46 million euros), the expansion of the San Benigno port gate (15.9 million euros) and the installation of a new portgate by Ponte Etiopia, together with the completion of Via della Superba (18.5 million euros), will provide vehicles to/from the port with direct accessto the motorway, thereby minimising impact on urban traffic and reducingcongestion on road links between the port and the city.

The upgrading of the rail link between the terminals facingthe Historic Port and the connection to the Terzo Valico (Third Railway Line across the Apennines) will improve the efficiency of rail transport and shift a higher percentage of inland traffic from road to rail.Investment: 35 million euros

Dredging the navigation channels and turning basins to accommodate safely all classes of ships, including the future generation of ultra large vessels, for both passengers and containers, which are scheduled to call in Genoa.Investment: 10 million eurosWorks have already commenced

The New Breakwater of Genoa – First Phase
• INVITALIA (the Investment Agency which reports to the Italian Ministry of Finance) was appointed CentralPurchasing Body for the implementation of the project of the new breakwater of the Port of Genoa by theWestern Ligurian Sea Port Authority.
• In April 2019 the contract for the implementation of the technical-feasibility study was awarded to the Verona-based Technital S.p.A., which formed a consortium grouping together E.P.F. Elettrotecnica Srl, Modimar Srl, Studio Balleriini Ingegneri Associati, Alberto Albert, HR Wallingford Ltd, Dimms Control Srl, Sener Ingenierìa Y Sistemas SA. The study is to include an analysis of a selection of alternative proposals, a timeframe for the completion of the designated phases of the project, meteo-marine studies and ship manoeuvring simulation activities for each proposal to assist in the identification of the optimal solution.
• The preliminary project is to be completed by December 2020, subject to a review of the alternative proposalsand a public consultation.
• The final and executive project of the breakwater are scheduled to be completed by February 2022, and thecalls for tender for the construction works will commence following this date.
• The cost of the construction of the entire breakwater is estimated at one billion euro.

Restructuring of the Hennebique Silos
The call for tender for the concession to restructure and manage the Hennebique Silos was officially published by the Port Authority on 21 June 2019; the deadline for the submission of offers is 31 October 2019. Further to the recent presentation of the comprehensive technical specifications elaborated by the University of Genoa for the redevelopment of the former grain silos, located along the Ponte Parodi waterfront in the Old Port, the Port Authority has announced the details of the concession for one of the city’s most prestigious buildings.Investment: 100 million euros (inclusive of 10 millions eurosfunded by the Port Authority)
