ACT SIX------------------------------------------------

Scene I

In a cave in the underworld

[Enter Three Witches]

First WitchHere we are yet again, now that the fool, Macbeth, is dead.

Second WitchHowever, how can this fun end? What fun it would be to have it, yet again, begin!

[Thunder and lightening]

First WitchHecate comes. Let us be quiet.

Third WitchAnon, she comes. There lives no other who could make such clamor.

[Enter Hecate]

HecateWhat is this conspiring I hear occurring without my consent?

Visiting another are you?

Third WitchRage again, Hecate?

HecateBeing excluded never makes one feel anything but.

First WitchI believe Graymalkin is calling –

HecateDon't give me that you wretched swine! Young Prince Jonathan is in no need of your service. Neither was

Macbeth, but rather he go than to destroy what peace King Malcolm has created in the mortal world.

[Hecate grabs witches by their throats]

Second WitchPrithee let us go, mistress!

HecateI'm hurting you for your own good.

[Witches are thrust against the wall of the cave]

Third WitchImmortality was but a lying shield!

Page 2: ACT SIX - Macbeth Sequel

Second WitchWe have fallen dead, melting upon the floor, shrinking to the size of flies.

[Witches die. Exeunt.]------------------------------------------------

Scene II

King Malcolm, new king of Scotland sits upon his throne. Scotland has enjoyed a new era of peace after the reign of Macbeth. However, the king has fallen ill. He sits on his throne to converse with his son, Jonathan.

MalcolmSon, come forth.

Jonathan[From within his chamber.] Anon, father.

[Enter Jonathan, a young man of about seventeen. He is old enough to fight in the army and his father has dreams of him becoming a great soldier. He, however, has shown no interest and wishes instead to stay on

his own.]

JonathanFather, I do not suppose this is about my enrollment in war again. I have no desire to serve.

MalcolmNo backtalk from you, you ungrateful swine of a child. I called upon you to tell you that I am ill. I will

soon have to select an heir.

JonathanFather, I have equally little interest in being king.

MalcolmPity.

JonathanFor you.

MalcolmAye. Ungrateful and spiteful thing thou art. Leave my sight.

JonathanMy pleasure.

[Exeunt.]------------------------------------------------

Scene III

[In the royal garden Jonathan meets his ethereal spirit companion, Amaranth.]

JonathanHow now, my love? Gloom leaves its dark shadow across thy lovely face.

Page 3: ACT SIX - Macbeth Sequel

AmaranthMockery graces yours.

JonathanTo mock you is to flaunt in foolishness.

AmaranthSpeak thy nonsense. It only illuminates thy lack of understanding.

JonathanVery well. Since thy mood seems foul, I shall cease to speak and provide my attention.

AmaranthMy mother is deceased.

JonathanMother? The witch? Did she not have immortality?

AmaranthIt was but Hecate's ghoulish lie. She gave life, she took it the same.

JonathanAnd of you?

AmaranthRather than return to the depths of the earth, where I was born, I must forever walk the earth.

JonathanO gloom.

AmaranthI sense thy mockery once more.

JonathanYou sense correct for there is nothing more I want that to have you stay in the moral world with me.

AmaranthWhat a shame for that is not what I desire. Hecate must die.

JonathanBe it not wise to speak of her here in such a manner? She lives in the trees. She is the wind.

AmaranthThy foolish mortal tales. She is but a maggot in the skin of a lion.

JonathanI remain appalled by the coarseness of thy words.

AmaranthIf you were not, you would not be of man. Hecate must be killed. But how? She is mighty but her flaws are

plentiful.

JonathanI suggest you rethink your plan. She controls all fate. Time as we know it might end.

Amaranth

Page 4: ACT SIX - Macbeth Sequel

Is thy love as great as thou led me to believe?

JonathanI swear by God.

AmaranthThen thou must assist my vengeance, or I take it thou art my enemy.

JonathanIf it must be so.

[Exit Amaranth.]

JonathanI never dreamt of being a soldier but now I am a warrior of the dark.

[Exit Jonathan.]------------------------------------------------

Scene IV

At the royal castle Jonathan and Amaranth speak of their plot away from the prying eyes of his father, King Malcolm whose condition is worsening.

JonathanI find myself to be in utter confusion.

AmaranthI find you to be in utter stupidity. Hecate can only be killed by a king. They are the only mortals strong

enough to even wound her.

JonathanWhere for not thou?

AmaranthI am but a spirit. Less than a human.

JonathanBut my father is too ill to fight. And I. I am but a prince. No king.

AmaranthYour father has not yet selected an heir. You are the natural choice for king upon his death.

JonathanI cannot –

AmaranthNo. You cannot. I can.

JonathanYou?

AmaranthI can and I will. I know spells to exorcise his spirit from his body having him feign natural death.

Page 5: ACT SIX - Macbeth Sequel

JonathanMy father…

AmaranthFool! He hath addressed you as swine. He hath called you spiteful and ungrateful! He deserves no life.

JonathanI suppose if it will help end Hecate's reign of terror on the spirit world.

AmaranthPrecisely. After you are king you will fight Hecate to the death. Her weakness is her heart. Pluck out her

heart and set it into flames. She will be destroyed.

JonathanWell love. We must part.

AmaranthYou're father will be dead by tomorrow morning. We will meet again when the hurly-burly's done. When

Hecate falls and we have won.

[Exeunt.]------------------------------------------------

Scene V

King Malcolm was discovered dead by a servant in the castle. A doctor evaluated him and his death was believed to be a natural passing. Jonathan has dressed in armor. He said he wished to fulfill his father's

wishes and become a soldier. He leaves and meets Amaranth in the cave of her mother's death.

Amaranth[From within.] Hark! Art thou Jonathan?

JonathanAye, love. I have come with my weapons and with tools to ignite fire.

AmaranthWonderful, dear. Please step inside.

[Jonathan steps into the darkness to see Amaranth luminous with happiness.]

JonathanHow now?

AmaranthI have challenged her. She comes.

[Thunder and lightening.]

AmaranthAnon!

[Enter Hecate.]

HecateWhat a cold day to choose your loss, Amaranth and young Jonathan.

Page 6: ACT SIX - Macbeth Sequel

AmaranthRevenge is a dish that's best served cold.

JonathanAye. Our loss is not so easily predicted.

HecateHow can you be so sure? I am still mistress of the wyrd sisters.

JonathanEnough of thy slander. Let us battle.

HecateIndeed.

[The battle rages outside the cave. Jonathan emerges carrying Hecate's heart on his sword.]

JonathanI return victorious. She hath been defeated.

AmaranthFoolish boy.

[Amaranth sheds her skin and is revealed to be Lady Macbeth. She grabs Hecate's heart and devours it becoming the new mistress of the wyrd sisters.]

JonathanBy God! I have been fooled! Wraith! Speak! Who art thou?

Lady MacbethI am the queen.

[Lady Macbeth grabs Jonathan's sword and kills him. In a violent and bloody coup Lady Macbeth conquers Scotland to become its eternal queen.]
