Delays denounced in the release of Texcoco prisoners

As interns facing charges in the Rehabilitation Center atTexcoco, we would like to take a moment of yourprecious time to:

Protest the stance of the federal Attorney General's Officeand the Supreme Court, two institutions that are fullyconscious that we were tortured, physically andpsychologically repressed, and that our most basichuman rights-our individual guarantees-have beenviolated.

Likewise, the legal process to which we have been subjectedinside the prison has been plagued with irregularitiesand during this entire time (one year and seven months)no proof has been produced of the crimes with which weare charged.

We are still being deprived of our freedom despite the factthat a federa judge absolved us of the charges. Thiswas done through a protective order granted to seven ofour comrades that was impeded by the prosecution'sdemand for a revision of the case.

This only delays our release.

We also state that on Thursday, November 20,comrades who were released on bail but still facecharges announced a hunger strike, together with ourlawyer Pedro Raul Suarez Trevino, in order tounderscore the demand for our immediate freedomand for all charges to be dropped due to the fact thatall people charged are totally innocent. We earnestlyhope that you will publish our denunciation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE:

Although the hunger strike was planned, it was notpossible to carry it out due to prevailing conditions andto today's citation issued by the Supreme Court, butthe action has not been discarded; it is being analyzedto see when it will be most productive.
