TYPES Acousti-Matª I Acousti-Mat I is an economical, low-profile, high quality sound control mat needing only a 3/4" (19 mm) Maxxon underlayment pour depth. Listed in over 100 UL fire ratings, while also increasing impact insulation class (IIC) levels 8 to 10 points in wood frame construction, Acousti-Mat I helps meet both International Building Code's (IBC) fire rating and sound rating requirements. It is made with 40% pre- consumer recycled content and is GREENGUARD Children & Schools SM Certified. Acousti-Matª II Acousti-Mat II, an industry standard, accepts a thin floating floor composite and is ideal for new and retrofit flooring applications where floor height is a concern. Acousti-Mat II increases IIC levels up to 10 rating points over wood frame and up to 20 rating points over concrete. It also increases the STC rating 6 - 15 points over a bare wood frame system. Acousti- Mat II has 40% pre-consumer recycled content. It is GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified and may contribute points toward LEEDª project certification. Enkasonicª Enkasonic sound control mats create sound- rated floors with IIC and STC levels required by the International Code Council, IBC and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for luxury developments. Test results indi- cate that after 10 years of use, Enkasonic retains 97% of its original thickness, is as pliable as a new roll, and performs equally to a newly manufac- tured roll. Enkasonic increases IIC levels up to 12 rating points over wood frame and up to 20 rating points over concrete; it also increases the STC rating 6 - 15 points over a bare wood frame system. Enkasonic has 40% pre-consumer recy- cled content, is GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified and may contribute points toward LEED project certification. Acousti-Matª 3 For open beam, concrete slab and conven- tional wood frame construction, Acousti-Mat 3 increases IIC levels up to 17 rating points over wood frame and up to 25 rating points or more over concrete. It increases the STC rating 6 - 15 points over a bare wood frame system. Acousti-Mat 3 has 40% pre-consumer recycled content, is GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified and may contribute points toward LEED project certification. Acousti-Matª LP/LPR Acousti-Mat LP (Low Profile) and LPR (Low Profile with Reinforcement) are sound control mats used over concrete slab and topped with a Maxxon underlayment or Level-Rightª WearTop« to improve IIC ratings. Acousti-Mat LPR can be used in wood frame construction for a low profile sound control solution. Made with 40% pre-consumer recycled content, Acousti-Mat LP and LPR are tough, durable mats with water repellent features and provide excellent reductions in sound trans- mission and sound reflection, achieving a Delta IIC rating of 19 - a reduction in impact noise of approximately 75%. Tile may be thin- set directly to Acousti-Mat LP or LPR. Sound mat is loose laid over the entire concrete or wood subfloor.

Acousti-Matª SDAcousti-Mat SD saves time and money with its unique pattern, designed to fit the flutes of 9/16" – 2 1/2" o.c. 22 gauge corrugated steeldecking. Traditionally, sound control in corrugated steel deck construction required an underlayment to be poured directly onto the steel deck to level the surface before a sound mat could be installed. With Acousti-Mat SD, just one underlayment pour is required to achieve superior sound control, a strong, level underlayment and fire safety. Acousti-Mat SD is GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified and may contribute points toward LEED projectcertification.

BENEFITSAcousti-Mat Sound Control Systems offer a cost-effective means to meet performance specifications in new construction and renovation projects. Acousti-Mat Sound Control Systems:• Arefastandeasytoinstall• Reduceimpactnoiseupto75%• Are suitable for both new construction or

FIRE PERFORMANCEAcousti-Mat I, Acousti-Mat II, Acousti-Mat 3,Enkasonic,Acousti-MatLP/LPRandAcousti-MatSD Sound Control Systems meet National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Class A standards when tested in accordance with ASTM E84. Contact Maxxon Corporation fordetails and specific test results.

ACOUSTICALPERFORMANCEMaxxon Corporation has performed many sound tests on Maxxon Acousti-Mat Sound Control Systems. Tests were performed by recognized testing agencies over a wide varietyoffloor/ceilingassemblies.Allproductshad sound ratings above the minimum values accepted by major housing codes. Visit www.Acousti-Mat.com for details about Acousti-Mat product sound ratings.

ENVIRONMENTALCONSIDERATIONSSee Table 4. With the exception of Acousti-MAT LP/LPR, Acousti-Mat SoundControl Systems are GREENGARD Children and Schools certified and can contribute points towardLEEDprojectcertification.

5. InstallationAcousti-Mat Sound Control Systems installa-tion must be completed by a manufacturer-authorized applicator. General installationinstructions are included below.

PREPARATORY WORKDeliver products in manufacturer’s original, unopened, undamaged containers with identifi-cation labels intact. Store materials protected from exposure to harmful environmental conditions and at temperature and humidity

conditions recommended by the manufacturer. Remove any damaged or deteriorated material from the job site.

Schedule the sound control system as late as possible in the construction cycle. Do not begin the underlayment and sound control system installation until the building, including roof, windows, doors and other fenestration, is enclosed.

Install the underlayment and sound control system after drywall installation unless tenant finish requirements identify partitioning after the pour. If the sound control system will be installed before the drywall, loose lay 3.4 lbsquare yards of galvanized metal lath overthe entire sound control surface.

The subfloor must be clean and structurally sound. Fill cracks and voids with a quick setting patching or caulking material.

METHODS Acousti-Mat I, Acousti-Mat II, Acousti-Mat 3,Acousti-Mat SD, Acousti-Mat LPR in woodframe and Enkasonic: Loose lay the sound control mat over theentire subfloor. Install and tape isolation strips around the room’s perimeter to eliminate flanking paths. Also install and tape isolation strips around any vertical penetration through the floor. Tape the seams between sound mat sectionsorusezip-strips.Primethesoundmatto bond the underlayment to the mat.

Top the sound mat with approved Maxxon Underlayment at a depth specific to the mat chosen for the application (see Table 2).

Screed to a smooth surface. If installing only in hard surface areas, pour the underlayment directly over the subfloor in areas to be covered by carpet and pad.

Provide continuous ventilation and adequate heat to remove moisture from the area until the underlayment is dry. Provide mechanical ventilation as necessary to enhance the drying process.

Top Acousti-Mat LP or LPR with an approvedMaxxon Underlayment. For uniform depth and a smooth surface, use a screed to finish the underlayment surface.

The floor will be hard enough to accommo-date foot traffic approximately 2 hours after theunderlaymenthasbeenpoured.Byutilizinga Maxxon Underlayment over the Acousti-Mat LP or LPR, a smooth flat underlayment will beachieved that can meet the finished floor goods floor flatness criteria.

Note - Maxxon offers an installation brochure for flooring materials. Refer to these guidelines for more information. The procedures described here are to be used as guidelines only and do not constitute a warranty. Where floor goods manufacturers require special adhesive or installation systems, their requirements super-sede these requirements.

PRECAUTIONSDuring construction, place temporary wood planking over the underlayment or topping if it will be subject to heavy wheeled or concen-trated loads. Protect installed products until the project is complete.

Rigid attachments through the sound mat reduce its performance. For this reason, once the mat has been loose laid, no further penetrations should be made.

BUILDINGCODESInstallation must comply with the requirements of all applicable local, state and federal code jurisdictions.
