It has long been considered too difficult to undertake effective leak correlation detection
on large diameter water and rising mains, trunk or transmission mains, due to poor acoustic
propagation experienced on these large mains.
Technology has moved on with developments in electronics, accelerometers and hydrophones
that have changed what can be achieved and opened new opportunities in cost effective large
diameter pipeline leak detection.
The Japanese have led the field in acoustic and electronic development and with the recent development
of electronics with the lowest signal to noise ratio, advanced accelerometer and hydrophone designs
built specifically to enhance, capture and process low frequency leak noise, these features combined
with highly skilled and trained technicians, accumulate to bring you advanced acoustic leak
detection capabilities on large diameter mains.
Detection Services has already successfully completed over 600 kms of trunk main
leak detection surveys for multiple clients across Australia and New Zealand.
Hydrophones or accelerometers are attached to the pipeline
in two or more locations.
Multiple frequency analysis scans are performed to detect
the frequencies present. Up to 1000 data sample sets
are recorded, combined and post processed through
a number of patented process algorithms.
Our Acoustic Engineer has developed multiple international
patents covering advanced leak correlation, signal
processing and has been in research and development
of trunk main correlation for over 9 years.
