Acorn Valley Youth Camping Area

The Youth Camping Area is located in the Acorn Valley Campground, located at 9615 NW Beaver Dr., Polk County. NW, Iowa 50131.

Important Information All U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Title 36 Regulations and Saylorville Lake Camping Guidelines are enforced. No pets are allowed in the Acorn Valley

Youth Camping Area. No alcohol is allowed in Acorn Valley

Campground or the Acorn Valley Youth Camping Area.

No camping party or camping unit of any kind shall occupy the youth camping area for more then 14 days out of any 28 day period.

Groups that include family members and siblings other than actual group members or chaperones are family groups and are not eligible to use the Acorn Valley Youth Camping Area.

Acorn Valley Youth Camping Area

Nestled in the upland timber at Saylorville Lake in the Acorn Valley Campground sets the perfect outdoor adventure opportunity for youth. The site provides a remote setting for organized youth groups looking for an opportunity to tent camp without the impact of neighbors and experience a degree of primitive camping. Camping is for chaperoned organized youth groups only. Group members must be under the age of 18 and the activity must be sanctioned by a recognized organization (boy/girl scouts, 4-H, schools, churches, etc.).

Reserving the Youth Camping Area You can reserve this site by either going online to www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Reservations can be made 12 months in advance of your outing. If you have any questions about the youth camping area you may also call the Saylorville Lake office at 515-276-4656 or visit the Saylorville Lake Ad-ministration Office at 5600 NW 78th Avenue Johnston, IA 50131.

Camping Rate There is a flat rate of $50/group/night. A group can have a maximum of 42 persons.

Camping Season & Hours of Operation Recreation Season: Acorn Valley Campground is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Campground Hours: Acorn Valley Campground is open from 6:30 a.m.—10:00 p.m.
