NEED FOR THE STUDY

The rates of stress and burnout among nurses have been found to be higher than the rates among other healthcare professionals, with approximately 40% of hospital nurses are having burnout. Many studies have indicated that the prevalence of burnout is higher among nurses due to staffing inadequacy and schedule, lack of involvement in decision making, lack of support from nursing leadership and administration, interpersonal conflict (interactions with physicians and peers), and inadequate pay.

So the researcher found that it is relevant to conduct A study to assess the level of burn out among the staff nurses working in intensive care unit in a selected tertiary hospital, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India

DATA ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION

The data has been analyzed and presented in this chapter under the following heading:

1. Description of demographic characteristics 2. Assessment of pre test level of knowledge of staff

nurses regarding Nursing care of patient with Central venous catheter.

3. Evaluate the effectiveness of self instructional module on nursing care of patient with Central venous catheter

RECOMMENDATIONSBased on the findings of the study, following

recommendations are put forth. • The study can be done on a larger sample thereby

findings can be generalized.• A similar study can be conducted using other teaching

strategies like Structured teaching programme, video assisted teaching etc.

• A similar study can be conducted in terms of assessing practice of staff nurses.

• An experimental study can be undertaken with a control group.

LIMITATIONS

• The data collection period is one week• The samples are limited to 30.• The study is limited only for the staff nurses

working in ICU.

CONCLUSION

The study result shows that knowledge on nursing care of patient with central venous catheter among staff nurses was inadequate and moderately adequate. Self instructional module is one of the effective method in increasing the knowledge regarding nursing care of patient with central venous catheter among staff nurses. The findings of the study revealed a significantly increased in the post test knowledge scores after administration of self instructional module. The educational qualification and experience in ICU was significantly associated with knowledge regarding nursing care of patient with central venous catheter among staff nurses.
