5Achievements Report 2017

It is my pleasure to write this editorial just two weeks after my arrival to Kosovo as Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and UN Development Coordinator in Kosovo.

As you browse through the pages, I feel proud to be part of the UNDP Kosovo team who, together with our wide range of national and international partners, including sister UN agencies, at central and local level, has achieved such important and often transformational results during 2017. From employment creation, to business grants for vulnerable groups, young men and women, to reintegration of repatriated, and people living in remote areas… From support to the justice and security sectors to fighting corruption and building bridges between communities through shared cultural heritage… and from working with communities to increase awareness and resilience to reduce risks relating to environmental disasters as part of wider regional environment initiatives. as you will see, much has been done!

We produced publications to strengthen prevention of violent extremism. We have also continued publishing our flagship satisfaction survey “Public Pulse” to learn about the public perception and level of satisfaction about the most pressing issues the society faces in Kosovo.

Throughout our work, we pushed forward the gender equality and women’s empowerment agenda and our Kosovo office was awarded the Silver Gender Equality Seal, one of 31 proud UNDP offices around the globe.

All our work, success, achievements would not have been possible without the strong cooperation with our partners and donors. My very warm expression of appreciation to all of you! I am dedicated and committed to, with my team, support and accompany partners to make Kosovo become a better place for its people. Looking forward to celebrating future achievements with you.
