Dear WestSide Baby Community,

WestSide Baby thrives because of your gifts of time, money and gently used items. The generosity of our donors, dedication of our volunteers and community commitment create our foundation. While this spring has been an unending cloudy sky, there is a glow within the walls at WestSide Baby. Good things are happening!

The impact is bigger now than ever. After we moved our donation drop off, sorting and storage from the space affectionately dubbed “The Babe” to a larger donation and distribution center right across the parking lot, we realized what we “could” be doing in relation to what we have accomplished. There is much to celebrate and much to be done.

Because of increased capacity, we have increased our efficiency. We are better able to process and safety-check equipment – like car seats, strollers and port-a-cribs. When we purchase items, we save money because we can buy in bulk. We have the systems in place and we are poised for continuing to have real, significant growth. More volunteers can come because there is room to move.

Over the next year, you’ll hear us talk more about ways you can support our efforts to reach further to fill the widening gaps faced by local families. We are Growing Up and Reaching Out. The kind of change we are undertaking is an exciting next step in the evolution of WestSide Baby.

As a Board, we know that this growth is possible because of you. Your gifts of time, money and gently used items are the driving force. I am proud to be part of a community that is so generous. Dear Supporters of WestSide Baby,

2010 was a WestSide Baby Whirl-wind! Opportunities surfaced. You responded and in six short months we were able to expand our operations and impact beyond our

wildest imaginations. More children are already receiving more items essential to their health, safety and welfare than ever before.

Early last year, we realized we owed it to the families we serve and to our supporters to take the leap to add to our space to make sure we support as many children as efficiently as possible while need was rising. There wasn’t time to waste.

After a careful search and extensive space planning analysis, we found the perfect place right in WestSide Baby’s back yard. We rented, renovated and moved in six short months. The energy behind this effort was incredible with hundreds of people pitching in with time, talent and donations. From demo to door-opening, it all

• 384 Car Seats• 4344 Clothing Bags for Children• 643 Layettes for infants• 5000 Pairs of Shoes• 250 Strollers• 195 Cribs/Beds• 5200 Volunteer Hours (Value of $65,000!)

happened because of the amazing community underlying everything we do.

During all of this, we served 18,900 children – a 20% increase over 2009. We provided 500,000 diapers! (In the first quarter of 2011, we’ve doubled that monthly average!) Volunteers donated more than 5,200 hours last year and the new space has already allowed us to double the number of people who have come to help us help others. We hit the ground running so that bottoms stayed covered, kids in cars remained safe and little ones sloshing through the rain were warm and dry. Because of tearful thanks from a grandmother preparing to take in her new grandchild and nameless families passing through a domestic violence shelter, WestSide Baby moved quickly in 2010.

It was time to act and, thanks to your support, we did.

Dear Supporters of WestSide Baby,

2010 was a WestSide Baby Whirl-wind! Opportunities surfaced. You responded and in six short months we were able to expand our operations and impact beyond our

wildest imaginations. More children are already receiving more items essential to their health, safety and welfare than ever before.

Early last year, we realized we owed it to the families we serve and to our supporters to take the leap to add to our space to make sure we support as many children as efficiently as possible while need was rising. There wasn’t time to waste.

After a careful search and extensive space planning analysis, we found the perfect place right in WestSide Baby’s back yard. We rented, renovated and moved in six short months. The energy behind this effort was incredible with hundreds of people pitching in with time, talent and donations. From demo to door-opening, it all

happened because of the amazing community underlying everything we do.

During all of this, we served 18,900 children – a 20% increase over 2009. We provided 500,000 diapers! (In the first quarter of 2011, we’ve doubled that monthly average!) Volunteers donated more than 5,200 hours last year and the new space has already allowed us to double the number of people who have come to help us help others. We hit the ground running so that bottoms stayed covered, kids in cars remained safe and little ones sloshing through the rain were warm and dry. Because of tearful thanks from a grandmother preparing to take in her new grandchild and nameless families passing through a domestic violence shelter, WestSide Baby moved quickly in 2010.

It was time to act and, thanks to your support, we did.
