Development 2002, SAP R/3 Enterprise was launched in all

applications were built on top of the SAP Web Application Server

2003 ,The first edition of mySAP ERP was launched in and bundled previously separate products, including SAP R/3 Enterprise, SAP Strategic Enterprise Management (SEM) and extension sets. SAP Web Application Server was wrapped into NetWeaver

2004 , mySAP ERP edition, R/3 Enterprise was replaced with the introduction of ERP Central Component (SAP ECC)

a services-oriented architecture was also launched the SAP HANA which is a combination of In-memory software and hardware can improve data processing at extremely high speeds

Deployment and maintenance costs Integration is the key in this process.

"Generally, a company's level of data integration is highest when the company uses one vendor to supply all of its modules.“

for a Fortune 500 company, software, hardware, and consulting costs can easily exceed $100 million (around $50 million to $500 million)

Large companies can also spend $50 million to $100 million on upgrades

Full implementation of all modules can take years

Deployment and maintenance costs Midsized companies (fewer than 1,000

employees) are more likely to spend around $10 million to $20 million at most,

small companies are not likely to have the need for a fully integrated SAP ERP system unless they have the likelihood of becoming midsized

Advantages Allows easier global integration (barriers of

currency exchange rates, language, and culture can be bridged automatically)

Updates only need to be done once to be implemented company-wide

Provides real-time information, reducing the possibility of redundancy errors

May create a more efficient work environment for employees[5]

Vendors have past knowledge and expertise on how to best build and implement a system

User interface is completely customizable allowing end users to dictate the operational structure of the product

Disadvantages For companies of less than 1000 employees, a fully

functional SAP ERP system can easily cost much more and take much longer than hiring a consultancy firm to build a custom ERP system from scratch

Locked into relationship by contract and manageability with vendor - a contract can hold a company to the vendor until it expires and it can be unprofitable to switch vendors if switching costs are too high

Inflexibility - vendor packages may not fit a company's business model well and customization can be expensive

Return on Investment may take too long to be profitable

Implementations have a risk of project failure[5]

FEATURES Microsoft Dynamics NAV gives administrators the

option of using either a Native database server or Microsoft SQL Server, as the DBMS.

SQL Server is better able to cope with large database sizes, but requires more maintenance than the classic database.

The original database server is often referred to as 'C/SIDE' which refers to Client/Server Integrated Development Environment.

With NAV 2009, Microsoft introduced a completely new client interface which was named the RoleTailored Client (abbreviated RTC).

FEATURES Other notable improvements include

several visual improvements such as support for charts, colorful reports, and adoption of a Microsoft Office style ribbon.

2012, Microsoft released NAV 2013 The Web Client does not require any special

add-ins and works on computers and mobile devices alike

LIMITATIONS:Microsoft will be limited in the number of deals where it can be short listed against Oracle and SAP. Human Capital Management (HCM). Microsoft Dynamics

AX today does have some HCM functionality for core HR, talent management, benefits administration, and employee/manager self-service

Customer Service. The Dynamics team prides itself on the success of its Dynamics CRM offering, built from scratch to be a serious competitor to Salesforce.com, SAP, and Oracle. However, Dynamics CRM is not a full CRM offering. Again, this approach may work for Microsoft's traditional SMB market—although even there, the lack of a customer service module is still a limitation.

Supply Chain Management (SCM). Microsoft Dynamics AX today only offers traditional material planning functionality, so-called MRP and MRP-II systems. There are no supply chain execution modules for warehouse management, transportation management, or logistics. In the SMB market, many prospects are doing well if they can implement basic MRP, and those who need more are often happy to consider partner solutions. But in the large enterprise space, prospects often expect this functionality to be part of the core offering.

Web Application Architecture[edit] Structure OpenERP is a web application, it is a web

server that handles the business logic and communicates with the database application. The clients interact with the application using a web interface. The server part of OpenERP is written in Python programming language, the web part is written in Javascript.

Oracle Financial Analytics can send an alert to the store manager, regional executive, and controller, enabling them to quickly diagnose the cause, take corrective action, and restore performance.

Traditional business intelligence solutions require users to discover problems manually, and thus the problem may go undetected for days or weeks too late to react.
