ACCOMMODATION SERVICES GALA DINNER AWARD NOMINATIONS Accommodation Services loves to celebrate the achievements of our residents, and since 2006, selected high achievers, community minded students, scholarship recipients, student leaders and La Trobe staff have been invited to attend and enjoy our Annual Gala Dinner. The Gala, held on site in the Union Hall, brings together students and staff from both Bundoora and Bendigo, and is one of the rare opportunities in the University calendar for students and staff to celebrate together. On the night, a number of prestigious awards are presented to academic high achievers and those who have made significant contributions to the residential community. In 2016, as was the case in 2016, Accommodation Services is seeking nominations from students, student leaders and staff for this years’ community contribution awards. Up to eight awards in total will be awarded across both campuses. If you would like to nominate a resident, please log on to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GalaAwardNomination and complete the nomination form. All nominations will be reviewed by a selection panel including Bronwen Young, Director Service Businesses and Adam Campbell, Senior Manager Accommodation Services. Award recipients must be: A current resident Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing Must have contributed significantly to the residential community (either their own floor/area, college or wider residential environment) in one of the following areas: Leadership: The successful recipient(s) of this award will have displayed significant leadership within the residential community by enabling other students to take responsibility for their own learning and experiences while providing advice, encouragement, and support. The recipient will have conveyed values of integrity and respect, related well to individual students, made himself/herself available to others and served as a positive role model within the community. Community Contribution: The successful recipient(s) of this award will have demonstrated a significant contribution to community development within the residential precinct. This student will have inspired and motivated others to act in the interests of the residential community, exemplified leadership and integrity in all words and actions, and provided service, commitment and leadership as a whole. Unsung Hero: The successful recipient(s) of this award will have demonstrated a significant contribution the community without holding a formal leadership position. They will have served as a role model and exerted a positive influence on his/her peers, demonstrated initiative, encouraged participation and/or made a meaningful contribution in residential life.
