Note: The number of positions will vary according to need. Timelines for selection also vary accordingly. ELIGIBILITY To be eligible to apply for a student leadership role you must: Be an enrolled later-year student Be a resident of Accommodation Services Have consistently paid all rental account debts during 2015 residency. Have consistently achieved a grade average of 65% or higher (with the expectation that you

will maintain this standard during your time as a leader) Not acting in any RA roles within Accommodation Services Not previously been negatively involved in any significant community standards issues. Be available for all training and information sessions.

2016 POSITIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

AMBASSADOR ROLE

Sports

Residential Sports Ambassadors will each be assigned as Event Managers for 3 – 4 sporting events during the year. In addition to attending training, duties include: Confirming the location, date and time of the sports schedule Promote, recruit players for each sporting event, organise schedule training dates Contact the relevant sporting club to organise a meeting in person with the Club Rep Discuss any issues with the Sports Centre and Accommodation Services To inform all other Sports Ambassadors of specific event details at least 3 weeks in advance

including the set up time, start time, agenda, requirement for officials/ umpires and other support staff, catering and clean-up

To facilitate and host the sporting event from start to finish To submit results to the Sports Centre & Accommodation Services following the event To seek feedback from students in attendance and Sports Reps and other involved parties

as to the event Complete an evaluation and provide any feedback to the Sports Centre and

Accommodation Services Meet on a fortnightly scheduled basis with the Sports Centre. Attendance will be tracked

and reported.

International

Provide support and assistant to international students as they arrive prior to the commencement of semester one and two

Host the Accommodation Services International Welcome Program in February and July Must be available for training (Wednesday 21 October 10am – 2pm) and the Welcome

Program (S1 14 – 19 Feb and S2 17 – 25 July)

ResFest

Provide support and assistance to the RA teams at each college during preparations leading up to move-in day, on move-in day, and throughout ResFest

Must be available for part of February Training (dates TBC) to go over their responsibilities and to assist RA’s with preparing for new student arrivals.

Be sober for the week of ResFest to assist Mod Squads throughout the week. Assist Accommodation services with promotion of ResFest activities to residents

Global Provide support and assistant to Global Programs participants on each program before, during and after travel.

ASPIRE Provide support and assistance to the ASPIRE Residential Experience attendees Host and supervise the ASPIRE Residential Experience Program over two days Organise and facilitate group activities and outings for underage participants.

REMUNERATION Ambassador roles will receive the following remuneration and incentives for undertaking their role. Benefits are determined on the basis of the varying requirements of the roles.

AMBASSADOR REMUNERATION

Sports

25% rental credit (monthly) Gold Pass (provided by Sports Centre) Merchandise (provided by Sports Centre) Free Ball Ticket Free rent and selected catering during Orientation program

International

$400 rental credit (in two instalments) $60 to be deducted if a leader fails to attend any of the welcome program

activities or debriefing sessions Accommodation during Welcome Program (14 Feb – 19 Feb, 17 – 22 July)

ResFest $400 rental credit (paid in March/April) Free accommodation during Feb Training (Dates TBC) and ResFest

Global $300 rental credit (paid September)

ASPIRE Free Accommodation during program (total 2 days) $100 Coles Myer Gift Card

AMBASSADOR SELECTION PROCESS Residents who wish to apply for a leadership role must complete the following steps by the specified due dates:

residents on the following: a) good sportsmanship, b) inclusivity and c) preventing sledging or abuse between players and spectators

International

Outline why you wish to undertake the role of an Ambassador What skills and experiences can you bring to this role? Outline four challenges faced by International Students highlighting

strategies, resources or other services available to assist.

ResFest Outline why you wish to undertake the role of an Orientation Ambassador Outline what three challenges that face first year residents
