    more about our University accommodation and how

    you can apply to stay in our fats. It also oers tips

    on nding alternative housing i you are not

    eligible or University accommodation.

    How and whencan I apply?

    You can apply any timeater 2 May 2011 or theSeptember 2011 session.

    You must hold anunconditional rm oer romEdinburgh Napier University.

    Check on page 1 that you areeligible to apply.

    Apply online at www.napier.ac.uk/accommodation

    You will need your EdinburghNapier number to giveyou access to our onlineapplication system. Thiswill be displayed in anycorrespondence you receive

    rom Admission Services.

    You must have your ownemail address to be ableto apply.

    You will be asked to pay a500 pre-payment (400advance rent payment and100 deposit reundable atthe end o the session).

    You should apply by 5pmon Monday 22 August 2011and i you are a rst year ordirect entrant undergraduate,we will guarantee youaccommodation.

    You will be asked to send ina Guarantor Form and set upa rent payment schedule toallow us to collect the rest oyour rent payments duringthe session.

    Once we have acceptedyour application andreceived payment, youwill be sent details owhere you will be staying,

    when and where you cancollect the keys, detailso the online induction,and a copy o thetenancy agreement(you will be requiredto sign the actualtenancy agreementwhen you collectyour key).

    Edinburgh Napier University has950 beds in sel-catered clusterfats o mainly 4, 5 or 6 persons.

    We have a limited number ofats which are mixed genderThe majority are single genderfats.

    All students have their ownsingle study bedroom alongwith shared kitchen/living area,shower room and toilets.

    All bedrooms with the exceptiono Wrights Houses have washhand basins in the rooms.

    We also have an allocationwith a fat development run

    by a private provider callediQ These spaces are in sel-catered cluster fats and areall en-suite.

    All our fats are strictlynon-smoking.

    All thefats arewithin 10-15minutes othe city centre,not campus based.They are close to localshops, supermarkets,cinemas and localamenities.They are all on good busroutes to the campuses.

    All fats are within walkingand cycling distance oeach other.

    I you have completed theonline application correctlyand submitted the correctpre-payment, we aim toprocess your application within5 days o receipt.     What i I have special needs?

    The University has adapted

    accommodation or can installcertain adaptations as requiredor students with specialneeds. Please contact theaccommodation oce on0131 455 3713 in the rstinstance to discuss.

    What are the fats like?

    Will I have my own bedroom?

    Yes, all the bedrooms are singlestudy bedrooms, ully ttedwith all the necessary urniture.You will have a lock on yourbedroom door. All bedrooms,excluding Wrights Houses,have wash hand basins.

    What equipment/urnitureis supplied in the fats?

    The fats are ully urnished.

    The kitchen includes a cooker,ridge/reezer, microwave,kettle, toaster, ironing board,vacuum cleaner and washingmachine (Wrights Houses andFountainbridge/West Tollcrosshave separate laundry rooms).

    What do I have to provide?

    Your own bed linen - you canpurchase a bedding packrom us when you apply oraccommodation.

    Your own kitchen crockery,

    cutlery, utensils, pots and pans.

    Your own towels.

    You are required to buy yourown ood.

    Can I share with riends?

    No, although we can place youat the same development.

    How do you decide who I willbe sharing with?

    The inormation on yourapplication will be used to give abalanced mix to the fats sameage range, course o study, gender.

    I you are not happy in your fat,requests or transers will beconsidered ater 1 October 2011,i spaces become available.

    Can I smoke in my fat?

    No. Smoking is not permitted

    anywhere in Edinburgh NapierUniversity accommodation.

    How long can I stay in my fat?

    All tenancies run rom 2September 2011. Most tenanciesare or 38/39 weeks, endingduring the week beginning22 May 2012.

    Nursing students, due to thenature o their courses, aregiven 50 week leases until 18August 2012.

    Post-graduate students aregiven the option o either 38/39week or 50 week tenancies.

    The exact tenancy end datewill be given on the tenancyagreement you sign.

    Can I stay in the university fator a couple o weeks and thenmove out to the private sector?

    You cannot sign a Universitytenancy and then leave atera couple o weeks. Short termtenancies are not possible andyou will remain liable or rentpayments until the tenancyend date.

    Is there somewhere saeto keep my bicycle?

    Yes. We oer secure bicyclestorage at all developments.

    Can I bring my car?

    Limited parking spaces areavailable to students in alldevelopments apart rom

    Grove Street (iQ) fats.Spaces will be strictly allocatedon a rst come, rst servedbasis. There may be a chargeor a parking permit in 2011.You can apply or a permiton-site one week ater youarrive. You are only permitteda parking permit at thedevelopment where you live.

    Check www.edinburghstudentpad.co.uk which advertises propertiesand lodgings traditionallyrented out to students. Alsoavailable on this website is asection or students in fatsadvertising or fat mates.Please note that we do

    not inspect these fats andcannot guarantee suitability.

    Visit Edinburgh beore thestart o the session to secureaccommodation. Book into ashortterm hostel while youlook or accommodation orthe rest o the session.

    Devote sucienttime to looking oraccommodation. Privatesector accommodation isplentiul but there are lotso students rom the ouruniversities within the citylooking at the same time.

    Always view propertiesbeore making anycommitment and beorehanding over any money.

    Make sure that you getreceipts or all money anddeposits you hand over andthat everything you agreeto is in writing.

    Always check what isincluded in the property.

    Check that the property hasthe appropriate certicates,or example current gassaety certicate i applicable,HMO licence i there are 3 ormore persons in the fat.

    Remember that you willbe asked to sign a tenancyagreement which is a legallybinding document.
