Phabtastic ! Over 40 people came to the Wednesday Phab club’s first event, a meet and greet
evening. Hosted at the Kingfisher centre on 19th October, it was a chance for the
committee and new members to meet, share ideas, see what the club was all about
and plan for the club’s future.
Heather Clarke, manager for Phab East Midlands attended and presented Ann Dean,
the treasurer a cheque for £500 to help the club start up. The first club meeting will
be on 16th November at The Kingfisher Centre 7.30pm to 9.30pm and every
Wednesday after that.
For more details, ring Ann Deane on 01733 333125, email [email protected]

2. Equality and Human Rights Commission Strategic Plan.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) have launched a 60 day consultation to help develop their
strategic plan for 2012-15. The plan will cover their goals and priorities and is due to be laid before Parliament
in April 2012. The consultation gives everyone the opportunity to comment on their proposed mission and roles,
and the key equality and human rights issues for the period. The deadline for responses is 12 December 2011.

3. General Medical Council Good Medical Practice 2012.
Good Medical Practice is the core guidance for doctors. It sets out the standards, principles and values expected
of all doctors registered with the General Medical Council (GMC). It also plays a vital role in keeping patients
safe and improving professional standards, and the GMC want to ensure it remains up-to-date and relevant to
doctors in their day to day practice. The consultation closes on Friday 10 February 2012.

And not quite a consultation, but Lauren Thomas, a mature student at the University of Westminster, is writing a
final year dissertation looking at "How the BBC is representing disability". If you could complete a 5 question
survey for Lauren, please contact her at [email protected] for a copy. Surveys need to be
returned by 9 December 2011.
There are 170,000 people living in Peterborough of which 35,000 have a
long term or permanent disability. DIALSport and other organisations have
been providing sport and health and wellbeing programs for people with
disabilities throughout the city but there has been very little to promote
these programs. That’s all about to change! From the first week of
December “Sporting Peterborough” website will be going live. If you want
to find out details about joining a Zumba class or golf club,
SportingPeterborough will be the place to find out. If you want to promote
your club or projects website, send your link to Ian Worley at -
