    Dear Communications Commission,

It is a tragic fact that local radio has been displaced by mediaconglomerates, leaving homogenous, ignorant commercial drivel.Developing LPFM stations can bring community voices back to theairwaves and re-vitalize diverse news and information.I urgently request that you prioritize local programming on LPFMstations over satellite-fed translators across the country. For thesake of American democracy the commission must establish rules thatfairly promote local ownership and programming.Thank you.

    Dear Communications Commission,

The FCC recently seems to have lost all sense of purpose and directionas the safeguard of freedom of speech and thus the first amendment.what has happened to the fairness doctrine? What has happened toguarantees that minorities and just opposing views may be heard? We

are at a stage where a government agency dominated by special interest

groups and entrenched administrators can now completely dominate mediain any city and eliminate anyone station, newspaper, or otherperiodicai from the exchange of i,jeas. This DESTROYS the function ofan informed electorate and ultimately of all legitimate democratic

processes. we are looking more and more like the enemies - imagined orotherwise - that we fight. What we criticize in them we are becoming.Shame! DO the right thing!Local radio has all but disappearec! from the diai in recent decades.LPFM stations bring community voices bacK to the airwaves.I strongly urge you to prioritize locai programming on LPFM stationsover satellite-fed translators acrm;s the country. I encourage theCommission to establish rules that fairly promote local ownership andprogramming over repeated signals from faraway stations. Thank you.

    Dear Communications Commission,

Local radio has ali but disappearecl from the dial in recent decades.LPFM stations bring community voices back to the airwaves.I also encourage the reduction of multiplicity rules with respect tostation ownership, with a rollback to pre-1995 ownership rules.I strongly urge you to prioritize local programming on LPFM stationsover satellite-fed translators across the country. I encourage theCommission to establish rules that fairly promote local ownership andprogramming over repeated signals from faraway stations. Thank you.America used to have MANY independent voices on the air, between thevarious on-air talent and the editorial staff of local stations. These voices have been silenced and replaced with national"corporate" voices, who do NOT offer equal local or nationaltime for the presentation of opposing views. This is undemocratic, but then again, there's little democracy left in America anyway. Ibelieve out forefathers would agree that it'S time for anotherRevolution.

    Dear Communications Commission,

Local radio has all but disappearecl from the dial in recent decades.LPFM stations bring community voices back to the airwaves.I strongly urge you to prioritize locai programming on LPFM stationsover satellite-fed translators across the country. I encourage theCommission to establish rules that fairly promote local ownership andprogramming over repeated signals from faraway stations.

This sort of programming not onlv promotes community, but also insuresdemocracy- as it lends voice to dialogue about important local, national and global issues.Thank you.

    Sincerely,

Mrs. Margaret Read-Weiss33 Barberry RdLexington, MA 02421-8025
