ENGAGED, NOT RAGED: CIVILITY, POLITICS, & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT The Florida Law Related Education Association, Inc. invites you to participate in the Engaged, Not Enraged: Civility, Politics, and Civic Engagement on August 27th from 4:30pm-6pm at the Florida Historic Capitol. This is free and open to the public. In a society where public issues are becoming increasingly polarized and political debates pull us left or right, how can we as a country work towards moving forward? Presenters and participants will explore the significance of civility in our social and political interactions, discern the impact and influence of incivility, and examine avenues for effectively engaging in public life. Nate Garvis, founder and author of Naked Civics, will strip away the politics and focus on the power of ordinary citizens to help move America forward using our civic institutions for the common good. You can register online for your free tickets at www.engagednotenraged.eventbrite.com. Please feel free to invite your colleagues and friends for a night of lively discussion and an engaging speaker – author Nate Garvis of Naked Civics. Afterwards, you’re invited to attend an opening reception at the Florida Historic Capitol Museum’s new exhibit Choosing to Participate: The Power of Civic Engagement. It features 11 panels that explore the impact of the active participation that has shaped contemporary American society. A book signing also follows. For additional information, contact Annette Boyd Pitts, Executive Director, at [email protected]. Seating is limited and pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
