Culture Change Standardized Process

Operations Transparency : Laying the groundwork

Integrated Framework Right Data

Awareness of interdependent

data for Operations Visibility

The essential foundation for OT is

the right data. However, data

collection in a proper collection

framework can prove challenging.

Operations and the data that goes

with it are often disconnected. As

such, organizations need both an

awareness of what data to assess

and a means of consolidating this

data. Important sources of

operations data include:

• Incident management

• External inputs - labor activity,

fuel prices, construction, etc.

• Integration into the ERP system

• Real-time KPI across a route

• Demand and supply visibility.

• Spatial visualization.

• Safety and compliance

Standardization of

processes & controls OT represents a very

different way of working for

public transit authorities. To

make the most of the data

and the data collection

framework, transit operators

must establish integrated

processes that clarify how

operators can most

effectively act on data

insights.

A culture change at every

level of the organization Although it is easy to take for

granted, the human element of

OT transformation is central to its

success. Historically, the industry

has not had access to this kind of

technology. Now that it is

available, the challenge is to help

workers break old habits when

new systems are put in place so

organizations can gain the most

value from their technology

investment.

Further, the organization-wide

transition from a “seat of the

pants,” reactive management

style to a data-driven, predictive

one will require a keen and

comprehensive change

management focus.

Integrated Framework to

collect, manage, analyze data Many transit authorities rely on

multiple systems to store different

types of operations data. What is

needed is a single EAM operations

platform leveraged to its fullest and

integrated with an ERP platform.

The most prevalent EAM in the

transportation industry is the

Maximo EAM solution. Accenture

has uniquely demonstrated

innovative ways to take this

software to the next level, providing

an operations data framework in

Maximo that allows an easily linked

and analyzable collection of data to

improve on-the-ground operations

management in real time.

Accenture is currently working on

extending SAP to provide similar

capabilities to support an

operational data framework.
