Accent Color Trends for 2016

If you are wondering about accent colors in terms of accessories with things like pictures, lamps, or even throw pillows or accent paint colors for things like accent walls for 2016, you've come to the right place.  The information gathered here is from a bunch of different resources all in one place so you don't have to go searching around all over the place to find them.  Not only are you going to find accent color ideas for 2016 below, but other paint colors and accent colors to use for these colors.  Without further ado, here are some of the TOP accent colors for 2016 that you have to look forward to. And when you are ready to get your home painted you can contact an interior house painter in Essex County. Essex County painters will be able to answer all of your color trend related questions and will work with you to suggest the best color for every room.

The Blue Color Trend for 2016

Blue is one of those colors that often shows up in trends, but usually it’s for entire walls.  In this case, blues are making a statement as accent colors.  Here are a few of the "types" of blues you can consider for accents.  Gray Blues:  These are those blues were when you first look at them you don't know if they are a gray color or a blue color.  Classic Blues:  Blues like denim, navy and cerulean are also making a comeback.  Pale Blues:  Such as icy blues, sky blues, barely there blues and ultra-cool blues - the ones that almost get mistaken for whites.  Bright Blues:  Like Teal that really pops as an accent color are also going to be trendy in 2016.  Blue is one of the most popular colors for bedrooms because it’s a relaxing color, but don't think you just have to paint the entire bedroom blue because you don't.  Instead, you can use blue as the accent color and white or another color as the main color.  Blue and white go really well together, though!  Some blues to check out are Morning Sky Blue Benjamin Moore, Luxe Benjamin Moore, Blue

Echo Benjamin Moore, and Patriot Blue Benjamin Moore.  As well as Stratus, Galapagos and Denim by Behr.

The Gray Color Trend for 2016

If gray-blues are popular, then it only makes sense that grays are also going to be popular in 2016 and really this probably doesn't surprise anyone considering gray has been THE color for the past few years!  Gray is popping up just about everywhere these days, in every space, from the kitchen and the dining room to the bathroom and the bedroom to the den and the living room.  Gray is one of those colors though if you use a certain shade it can make a room look really dreary and gloomy, this is why this is an accent color in this article and not a full-fledged wall color.  Of course if you can find the right shade - go ahead, paint the entire room that color, but be sure to bring in other colors like whites, tans, blues or even greens to keep the room a little more cheery.  If you want to paint a bedroom or any other space gray, including the kitchen, accents are the way to go, especially if you want to pair it with something bold or even something dark like black.  If you want a few color choices for gray, consider these:  Attitude Gray Sherwin Williams, Down Pipe Farrow and ball, Kendall Charcoal Benjamin Moore, Grizzle Gray Sherwin Williams, Iron Mountain Benjamin Moore, Dark Pewter   PPU18-04 Behr, and Gray Owl Benjamin Moore.

The Green Color Trend for 2016

In 2016 green is another color that has a place in many different spaces.  Greens come in various tones and shades, but they usually fall into these categories:  Gray Greens:  like mossy dark greens.  Vibrant Greens:  Like emerald bright greens.  Leafy Greens:  Yellow Green, Bright Green, etc.  Emerald greens are definitely making a name for themselves when it comes to accent colors and not just on the walls, other places to put green include draperies and window treatments, throw pillows, rugs, cushions and other textiles.  If

you don't want to add green as a paint or green as a textile, you can also consider adding plants to a room, that's right, flowers, plants, and herbs can all be brought into a room to add green into the decor - just make sure those green plants don't turn brown!  Some trendy green colors for 2016 include Holly Glen Pittsburgh Paints and Stains, Behr Modern Mint, Behr Emperors Silk and PPG Paradise Found.

Some other accents to consider are also gold -yea, imagine that!  Again, this can be a painted accent or an accessory accent.  If you don't like gold, you can also think about mauve, purple, and pink if you can believe it!
