Page 1 of 3 Dear Sirs, The purpose of this letter is to inform operators about the occurrence of CMF messages getting stuck in the SENDING condition on airplanes equipped with LOAD 21.4. Embraer has received reports of events where the CMF downlink messages were kept in SENDING for several minutes. The investigation showed that this behavior may occur on both VDL mode A (POA) and VDL mode 2 (AOA). Embraer and Honeywell developed mitigation procedures that may be attempted in order to clear the stuck condition: VDL mode A (POA) 1. On CMU SYSTEM MENU page, press LSK 1L to go to CMU DATALINK MGR page; 2. Verify that CMF COMM is AVAILABLE; 3. Press LSK 5R to go to CMU VHF FREQ SEL page; 4. Press LSK 1L to select the basic frequency for the current area; 5. Wait 2min; 6. If the stuck condition persists, steps 1 through 5 may be performed again. 5R 1L 1L

    Dear Sirs,

    The purpose of this letter is to inform operators about the occurrence of CMF messages getting stuck in the SENDING condition on airplanes equipped with LOAD 21.4.

    Embraer has received reports of events where the CMF downlink messages were kept in SENDING for several minutes. The investigation showed that this behavior may occur on both VDL mode A (POA) and VDL mode 2 (AOA).

    The final solution for VDL mode 2 operation is planned to be implemented on LOAD 23.

    The software solution for VDL mode A operation is planned to be implemented on LOAD 23. The final solution for VDL mode A operation also requires VDR#3 radio software modification.

    This letter remains valid until LOAD 23 is implemented in the fleet.
