First Baptist Academy High School: Student NewspaperTRANSCRIPT
From a fan’s perspective it was quite an impres-sive year marked by an undefeated season, the school’s first district championship, and also a history-setting regional win. For the players, though, it’s more than a sport; it’s a brotherhood. Through all the sweat, blood, and puke of summer work outs, the team has grown stronger. It paid off not only in Kyle Radcliffe’s abs, but also on the field. Our offense rushed for over 100 yards per game with tremendous help from the physically imposing offensive line. Un-der Coach Jansen’s training, the entire squad of 200 pound plus People Movers pancaked kids all over the field weekly. There were two veterans,
Homecoming is that one night when every young lady takes hours to get ready and guys look their best for that one chance to get the girl of their dreams! Laughter fills the room and memories are made. Everyone looks flawless. Everyone wants to take a snapshot of this moment to cherish it for-ever. Flashes of the cameras make you feel as if you are a celebrity. Girls’ dresses glow against the
moonlight in the courtyard as guys spend time at the dessert table. All of this, and more, was seen at the FBA Homecoming Formal!
On the night of October 21st, students arrived at the Strand Club and milled about socializing until they were escorted into the banquet hall. There, the room was wonderfully decorated to match the theme of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. There were colors and candy everywhere, and even a chocolate fountain for dessert! Other fun attrac-tions were the Oompa Loompa photo cutouts and student-hosted games! Superlatives were given to the student who best exemplified each quality in their class. Awards such as: Best Car, Most Chris-tian Character, Most Swag, and Most Athletic were given out! From the reviews of the students, this years’ homecoming banquet was a smashing hit and will set the standard for the years to come.
Like always, the FBA Homecoming Pep Rally was lively and animated from the cheering for all our fall sports! It started off with a spirited run around the gym by the varsity golf and cross country teams followed by our JV and varsity volleyball squads. The teams ran through the cheerleaders’ tunnel while waving to the elementary students! Finally, the FBA varsity football team walked around the gym proudly to heighten the levels of energy in the room. The Homecoming Court was introduced to the school repre-senting their respective classes, but senior king and queen would not be decided until later that night! Then the faculty challenged their students to a game of tug of war, but our students are too pow-erful! The teachers, backed by powerhouses like Mr. Platter, could not beat the seniors or sopho-mores. They can leave with their heads high, though, because they were able to beat a team of elementary students. Go teachers!

Football Clinches Regional Title
Homecoming Edition December 2012
This has been FBA’s year. The playoff journey started when our FBA Lions varsity football team de-
feated Out of Door Academy 46-42 to secure their first district championship and complete the regu-
lar season with an impressive 10-0. In fact, including last season, the varsity football team has won
12 straight games and 15 of the past 17 games. In winning the district, the Lions went on to the re-
gional championship to beat Indian Rocks and Carrollwood Day. They became the first team in FBA
history to win the regional title and continue to the Final Four in the state! In the state semi finals,
FBA’s fan base followed the team across the Alley to cheer them on as they battled a tough game
against Dade Christian School. It was a very disappointing loss. But one loss does not negate a truly
amazing season! The group that started the team four years ago as undersized freshmen have
grown into a team of mature seniors. Congratulations to Coach Sparacio, every member of the
coaching staff, and the entire team for a job well done. We pass all the glory and honor to the Lord!

two newbies, and one giant of a tackle. The backs, Jonah Bueltel and Christopher Dorrill, ran for over 1,000 yards, each setting a high record for FBA. Each week the backs ran over, around,
and through defenders while the re-ceivers caught multiple touchdowns. There was no one in the district that could stop them. Many memories were made throughout the year at practice and many more...memories...were made in the locker room. The football team has grown close over the past few years and this year was by far the
payout year. These are the pioneers of FBA football’s first
year and they will go down in legend.

Everyone was decked out in school colors! Juniors showed their unity with a full blown black out, and the seniors did likewise with the color white! The sophomores and freshmen sported a vari-ety of maroon, grey, and white… how quaint. In the end the juniors took first place for most spirited dress!

It was an exciting Homecoming Week. Class warfare ensued. Points were awarded for dress, doors, games, and more. Every class spent a day in the first place spot. But in the end,

Dodge Ball Tuesday's game was dodge ball. Unfortunately for the un-derclassmen, the freshman and sophomores were the first teams eliminated in the tourna-ment. You would think the jun-iors would be next to fall, but once again, their teamwork and group effort lead them to the win in Tuesday's lunch event.
The week had just begun and the teams had their competitive spirits on full force. Each grade united together with one purpose in mind. It's amazing to see the
amount of cooperation each grade put into working together to win.

Spirit week started out with a bang and rebellion was in the air. While all of the other grades got comfortable in their sweatpants, the Seniors clipped on their suspenders for the first day of Spirit Week. The official dress was Comfy Day, but the Seniors made an executive deci-sion to connect with their nerdy side.
The lunch competition was Tug of War. Seniors decided off campus lunch was more important than winning the game, leaving only a few to compete. The domi-nant men of the junior class handily beat the skeleton crew of the seniors and the younglings.

Country Day Everyone pulled out their boots and camouflage for their best country clothes. There were swamp people to red-necks to cowboys. Plaid, camo, and jeans were all that were seen on Thursday. The juniors pulled together and came out on top for Country Day.
Powder Puff Game
During lunch on Thursday, everyone piled into the gym for capture the flag. It was a rough game, but the sophomores teamed up and won the flag!
The annual powder puff football game was Thursday at 2:30. It was a crazy game. It went back and forth between the senior/freshman team and the sophomore/junior team. The male cheerleaders did a great job cheering everyone on with some in-tense flips and pyramids. But in the last few minutes, the seniors and freshmen got a touchdown that put them on top to win.

Tuesday, Day 2 of Spirit Week, was like a dream! Everywhere you turned were Disney characters, superheroes, and many other favorite movie characters. It was every child's dream (and maybe a few teenager's dream) to be in a school with their inspirations all day. Each grade accepted the challenge to come to-gether, dress up as their favorite charac-ter, and win. The Seniors took the prize for the costume contest, but it was a close call with all of the effort put into representing their class.
