Department of EC, VCET Puttur in association with ISTE had organized the Faculty development program on “Analog and digital communication” for faculties of EC department on 16th and 17th March . Mr.Goutham Simha G.D ,Professor ,Dept of EC ,NITK ,Surathkal was the resource person. Dr.M.S.Govinde Gowda was the President for inaugural function. Sri.Ravikrishna Kallaje was the chief guest.Mr.Shrikanth Rao(HOD EC),Mr.Mahesh Prasanna K(HOD CS) and Ms.Usha mam(HOD IS) graced the occasion.The main objective of this session was to give insight into current research area topics in the field of communication and also practical way of teaching communication related UG subjects by using circuit implementations.In the inaugural speech Mr.Goutham Simha spoke about knowledge transformation to others for lifelong learning is must in day to day life and in two days FDP it was delivered to us effectively.Dr.M.S.Govinde Gowda, principal spoke to the gathering said that analog and digital communications are major fileds in research areas. So this knowledge should be transformed to students effectively.Sri.Ravikrishna Kallaje told that Faculty development program is plays a major role to shape faculties in right direction. Also to know about recent trends from experienced faculty is golden opportunity. He told to transform this knowledge to students to do innovative projects.

Department of EC,VCET Puttur had organized a event to launch a electric solar car, which is designed by Team MUSTANGS, EC and MECH students. Students fabricated a solar electric vehicle and the car is powered by solar energy .About ISIEImperial Society of Innovative Engineers are well known Society of India for organizing Motor sports events, live projects based Industrial Training and Research and publication. ISIE – India provides a platform to the students and professionals for development and enhancement of their technical as well as managerial skills.

About ESVCElectric Solar Vehicle Championship (ESVC) is Asia’s largest solar event which started in the year 2013. The basic objective is to raise awareness among the future generation of engineers about renewable energy resources and push them for development in this sector,all of this while making it fun for them.

About Vehicle and Team:The team comprises of 35 students out of which 31 students from ECE dept. and 4 students from ME Dept. and the team was guided by Mr.Suhandas and Mrs.Sowmya Anil. Dept. of ECE All over Karnataka ours was the only college which entered to final rounds clearing all the technical inspection.We the team Mustangs from VCET, Puttur, fabricated a solar electric vehicle and the car is powered by solar energy. The car is designed using lithium ion-48V

1230Ah which runs 2.25kw BLDC motor connected to car. The battery can be charged directly through 230v 50Hz power supply and also through solar energy. The solar panel was designed to generate 560watts of power and used to charge the battery and also to run the vehicle directly.The car uses renewable energy i.e. solar,does not use any other fossil fuels hence it is totally an eco-friendly vehicle. Once the battery is charged fully, the car can run up to 2.5 hours at a maximum speed of 50kmph. Students also implemented lot of innovations which includes two modes of operation sports and normal mode, traction control, regenerative breaking, tilt detection and keyless start control using RFID.The event was held at Sri Vishnu College of Engineering for Women, Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh from 27/03/2018 to 2/04/2018. Totally there were 81 teams registered. Out of which 35 qualified for final round. The team won 1st prize in best research paper award, 1st prize in people's choice award and second prize in hill climb.

Department of EC, VCET Puttur in association with Alumni cell had organized a technical talk on “How to pursue career in electronics” on 7th May 2018 by Mr.Dileep Kudva Alumni E&C(2002-06 Batch).The main objective of this session was to create awareness among students about various opportunities in Electronics & Communication Industry. He also pointed on improvement of communication skills, basic soft skills and preparation requirement for interviews. Students found the session informative. Prof.Vinay P, Professor, Dept.of ECE, Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, was also present in the session.

Department of EC,VCET Puttur had organized competition “Hobby project Exhibition” for interested first year students on 7th May 2018. Dr.M.S.Govinde Gowda was the President for inaugural function. Sri.Muralidhara Bhat was the chief guest. Mr.Shrikanth Rao(HOD EC),Mr.Mahesh K K(HOD FY) graced the occasion. The main objective of this session was to provide platform for first year students of different branches to exhibit their technical skills. By identifying the gap in the VTU curriculum,Basic elecctrical & electronics laboratory has been set up for first year students. By conducting such competition ,opportunity was given to students to avail the benefits of lab. In the inaugural speech Dr.M.S.Govinde Gowda ,principal spoke to the gathering said that applying concepts of electronics and electricals in implementing the projects is a good team work and students will get to learn many practical concepts. Muralidhara Bhat told that these kind of activities provides opportunity to students to develop practical skills. Ahana Rai ,Final year EC student rendered master of ceremony.

Department of Electronics & Communication branch had organized SWACHH VCET -2018, on 19/5/2018.The main objective of this program is to create awareness about cleanliness among the students and staff. In this program all the students and staffs of Electronics & Communication engineering department had voluntarily grouped themselves in to different teams, all the teams taken responsibility to clean the premises of Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, and also the academic buildings, such as Sudarshana, Krishna chetana and Madhuchetana. Thereby, made the program great success.

Department of EC,VCET Puttur had organized competition “Circuit Gallery-2018 project Exhibition” for 6th EC and 4th EC on 16th May 2018. Sri.T.Subrahmanya Bhat (Director,VCET governing Council) was the chief guest. Mr.Shrikanth Rao(HOD EC) was also present on the dias. The main objective of this session was to provide platform to exhibit their technical skills. This helps the students to learn technology and develop some of the fine skills such as teamwork,communication skills,solving complex problems,expressing the concepts and conceptualizing any problem and its solution. Sri.T.Subrahmanya Bhat told that these kind of activities provides opportunity to students to develop practical skills. Ms.Ahana Rai ,Final year EC student rendered master of ceremony.
