Brianna Bernard: Throughout my years of study at the University of South Dakota, I have benefited from exposure and experience in all areas of theatre. Within the dance curriculum, I have successfully completed THEA-280 Ballet I, THEA-380 Ballet II, THEA-483 Ballet III, THEA-381 Tap I, THEA-421 Tap II, THEA-282 Jazz I, THEA-382 Jazz II, THEA-281 Modern Dance I, THEA-481 Modern Dance II, THEA-385 Dance: Musical Theatre Styles, and THEA-401 Special Topics: Mime. These classes have significantly improved and focused my technique as a dancer and my ability to perform in multiple styles of dance. In May of 2015, I will graduate with a BFA in Theatre: Musical Theatre Specialist and a minor in dance. Within the movement curriculum, I have successfully completed THEA-181 Fundamentals of Voice and Movement and THEA-285 Movement Dynamics I. Just like the dance curriculum, these courses have refined and crafted my movement as a performer. Within the acting curriculum, I have completed THEA 231-Acting I, THEA-232 Acting II, THEA- 331 Acting III, and THEA-401 Acting for the Camera. In these courses, I have discovered how to create dynamic characters and effectively communicate with a scene partner, both onstage and onscreen. Within the voice curriculum, I have successfully completed THEA-150 Musical Theatre Voice I, THEA 151-Musical Theatre Voice II, THEA-210 Musical Theatre Applied Voice I, THEA-211 Musical Theatre Applied Voice II, THEA-310 Musical Theatre Applied Voice III, THEA-311 Musical Theatre Applied Voice IV, THEA-410 Musical Theatre Applied Voice V, and THEA-283 Voice Dynamics I. Within these courses, I have learned how to properly use my instrument, both in speech and song. Within the theatre histories curriculum, I have successfully completed THEA-435 History of American Musical Theatre, THEA-250 Play Analysis, THEA- 464 Contemporary Drama and Theatre, and THEA-463 Modern Drama and Theatre. Within the technical theatre curriculum, I have successfully completed THEA-495 Theatre Practicum, THEA-140 Survey of Technical Theatre, and THEA-243 Make-Up. I have also worked as a Stitcher in the theatre departments costume shop for two years. These courses provided me with working knowledge, experience, and appreciation of everything that happens behind the scenes. In addition to theatre-specific courses, I have also successfully completed THEA-110 Music Theory I, THEA-110L Music Theory Lab, and MUAP-115 Keyboarding I. Within my majors specifications, Im required to take these courses to further my abilities as not only an actor, but as a singer and a musician. I have also successfully completed THEA-439 Auditioning, THEA-494 Theatre Internship, THEA-335 Acting: Musical Theatre, and am currently enrolled in THEA-487 Musical Theatre Showcase. These courses have provided real world experience on how to market myself professionally and how to be a working actor. All the accumulative experience gathered from my course of study has prepared me to perform for industry specialists in New York City.Grade Point Average 3.972
