ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
The IB diploma programme is known the world over as the standard of excellence.
When powered by the Meritas Academic Plan, the IB prepares each student
for success through critical thinking skills, high-order reasoning and creative
and complex problem solving. The respected IB credential is highly valued by
university admissions officers around the world for its rigorous, global academic
standards and its external assessment that validates subject knowledge breadth
and depth in the arts, sciences and languages.
FACULTY
We are a group of world-class teachers
who work together with shared goals, pas-
sion and intensity of purpose to serve the
growth and development of our students.
Our highly qualified, caring faculty works
closely with students to create customized
learning plans that challenge students to
build skills and work at advanced levels
in specific content areas based on their
interests and abilities. Tutoring, individual
growth assessments and other academic
support is available year-round, both inside
and outside the classroom.
EXTRACURRICULAR
Our rigorous academic plan is comple-
mented by a wide range of academic and
extracurricular opportunities in the arts,
music and other subjects that cultivate cul-
tural appreciation and creativity. Participa-
tion in these activities leads to gains in core
academic subjects as students transfer the
skills they learn to think about the material
in core subjects in a new way.
COLLEGE ADVISING
Our college advising departments are
composed of experienced counselors who
are familiar with the admissions practices
of higher education institutions worldwide.
We work individually with students, start-
ing as early as 6th grade, to map out an
academic plan, define university goals and
assist with the college application process.
A rich, diverse curriculum builds critical thinking skills to prepare students for a lifetime of learning.
Meritas Schools offer students the choice of either a general U.S. high school
diploma, Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum and/or the International
Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programme. Successful performance on AP
examinations allows students to earn college credit while in high school.

BOARDING LIFE
RESIDENCE FACILITIES
Meritas residences vary from modern and
comfortable dormitory-style rooms and
boarding houses in the community to villas
and luxury apartments. Most students
are housed in rooms that accommodate
between 2–4 students per room.
Boarding facilities are typically
equipped with:
Cable & satellite television
Internet access & phones
Quiet study spaces
Laundry facilities
Kitchens & common areas
Fitness & athletic facilities
MEALS
Meals are provided for all boarding
students—either at school or in-residence.
Boarding students generally have dinner
together, buffet style, with the Boarding
Director, Dorm Parent or a faculty guest.
We also provide opportunities for boarding
students to dine out occasionally as part of
regularly scheduled social activities. Each
school is able to accommodate a wide
range of dietary needs.
SAFETY
The safety of our students is always
paramount. Each student residence facility
has an experienced, adult staff member
who lives in-residence and is available to
support the social and emotional well-
being of the students. Parents will always
be able to reach a member of our staff 24
hours a day, 7 days a week.
Schools prioritize safety as evidenced
through professional security and access
to registered nurses, school counselors
and outside physicians to address student
health concerns.
We provide airport pickup and transfer
service for our boarding students. All new
boarding students are welcomed at the
airport and brought directly to the school
campus.
ACTIVITIES
Once classes have ended for the school
day, our boarding students make use of our
facilities to partake in their preferred fine
arts, digital media, clubs or sports-related
activities.
Weekend programs include excursions
that allow students to experience the
community and culture around the
school. These outings are planned to
align with students’ interests and provide
an engaging, supervised opportunity to
interact with their classmates, so that
every student has the opportunity to
socialize, experience community life and
pursue personal interests.
Boarding residences at Meritas Schools provide students a welcoming and safe environment that builds a sense of independence.
Through a combination of informal and formal structures and guidance, boarding
students quickly establish friendships that span the globe and last a lifetime. Even
before school starts, they take part in language classes (as appropriate), orientation
programs and activities that help them make friends and adapt quickly.

TESTIMONIALS
“What I like most about CDL is that
I can hang out with students from
many different countries and learn
more about their cultures. This unique
living and learning experience has
made me more aware of my global
classmates and I’m glad I have the
opportunity to experience more of the
world outside of my home country.”

“Leman provides classes and clubs to
enhance and improve my academic
abilities. My goal is to attend Columbia
University to pursue a career in economics
and I am very excited that Léman now
offers International Baccalaureate
classes for high-level math and high
level economics to help me prepare for
my future. I also joined Léman’s Model
United Nations club to learn more about
the economic implications of current
political events and develop defensible
opinions about them.”
“The five years that I have been here I have
not only developed my English skill but I
have also developed a very strong bond
with the dorm parents, teachers, and day
students. I joined the debate, softball
and swim teams and am a member of
the student ambassador program as well
as a prefect in the dorm. Through these
activities I have made a lot of friends
inside and outside of school and was able
to build a special bond with other students
that I otherwise would not have met.”

TESTIMONIALS
“Since I came to North Broward I
developed strongly in various fields and
have learned about so many new thoughts
and opinions which I had never heard
before and probably never would have if I
wouldn’t have come here. The classes are
challenging, the college advising office
helps you with questions about college,
and living in the dorms prepares you for
life in college and afterwards.”
“Due to the diversity of the students in
The Village School, I’ve had a chance to
interact with people from all across the
world. It is very exciting and interesting
to be a boarding student, because the
atmosphere that I live in consists of
dozens of cultures and it is a unique
experience that I’ve never had before. I’ve
learned how to collaborate and how to
compromise, how to share and to support,
how to understand people with different
views on the world. I appreciate every
single moment that I spent in Village.”

quality of the teaching at the school is great,
the teachers are highly knowledgeable in
their subject area and are willing to help
you with almost everything. I came here to
be inspired to be great and to become the
best me I can possibly be. The students
at this school have all the opportunities of
the world at their feet, all they need to do
is take the initiative and grab it, which is
exactly what I plan on doing.”
