X Prerequisites EE 636 to EE 735

Justification for all changes noted above: The SDSU Electrical Engineering graduate committee has completed a review of the graduate courses based on the graduate program changes over the last several years. The course number for EE 636 Photovoltaics was changed to EE 735. Due to the change EE 736 Advanced Photovoltaics required an update to the description and prerequisites. This request updates the course description to remove reference to EE 636 and updates SDSU’s prerequisite to EE 735.

It has been a bit hectic here this week with advising meetings, etc. Of course, hectic is something I am sure you can relate to in your additional duties. I have been involved with both the grad committee and of course C&I/chair duties so I know your plate must be full at all times. Now if they would just let us forego grading, the world would be perfect. :) We do not have any problem with the change in the SDSU pre-reqs for MCOM 266. You have USD’s permission. While we are on that subject, it is coincidental that you are making changes in a 161/220-type course. I was planning to seek permission from SDSU, DSU and BHSU to change the course title of MCOM 161 from Fundamentals of Desktop Publishing to Fundamentals of Digital Media. Even if SDSU is planning to delete 161 from its course offerings, I believe we would still need your permission to make the change since, as you know, it takes time for the paperwork to trickle through the system. Let me know your thoughts. Also, please say hello to Mary for me. I am still very interested in using our combined resources to develop a workshop to replace the former Crazy Horse Journalism Workshop. I hope we can get together this spring or summer to discuss possibilities. Best, Michelle Michelle Van Maanen, Ed.D. Chair, Contemporary Media and Journalism University of South Dakota 414 E. To: "Olson, Lyle" <[email protected]> Subject: response RE: quorum RE: Permission to drop MCOM 161 as pre-req for MCOM 266 Greetings, Lyle, I want to get back to you quickly before the day’s end so you can proceed. --just to clarify that the MCOM faculty interests regarding your course description and common course were primarily – and coincidentally – because we all had just talked last Friday at our weekly meeting about adding a nearly identical course to our BHSU curriculum. So your email/request arrived in such a timely way – and that’s why several faculty here asked for the potential of it being a common course. If we are not able to access this as common course, we will be developing our own unique course in the coming months. We are spending quite a bit of time these days with curriculum upgrade because of the ever-changing times in the field, as you know. In all of these upgrades, we’ve been working hard to develop quorums on all of the curricular decisions, as well - Other than that, we have no reservations particularly about you moving forward with your plans – sounds logical. Much luck with your upgrade – Sincerely, Mary Mary Caton-Rosser, Ph.D. Black Hills State University/Mass Communication Advisor: Jacket Journal/BHSU PR Club 1200 University Street SW206/Unit 9103 Spearfish, SD USA 57799-9103 (605)642-6422 (605)642-6762 - fax [email protected]
