Students in the Jewellery + Metals major

explore traditional and contemporary

techniques, materials and concerns as

they develop their own studio practice.

The techniques of metalsmithing, including

using a lathe, large-scale soldering, brazing,

raising, chasing, stone setting, casting,

mold and vessel making are emphasized

along with the practical issues of working

as a professional in the field. Students are

provided with conceptual, creative, critical

and technical support throughout their
